Make a Difference! Who We Are Most of us who volunteer weekdays are retired many are seniors. Some of us, however, are mothers whose children are in school, so we have some free hours during the day. Most adults working evenings and weekends work full-time or attend college. Most of us automatically become members of the Auxiliary of Inova Fairfax Hospital, an award-winning group serving the hospital since it opened in 1960. Over the decades, our volunteers have contributed millions of hours of service. The Auxiliary s mission also includes raising money for the hospital. Through proceeds from the hospital gift shops, off-site thrift/ consignment stores and specialized sales in the hospital, the group has donated more than $25 million since 1960. These gifts help maintain a healing environment at the hospital and improve health and promote wellness in our community. What We Do With so many different opportunities, you re sure to find the right role for you. Here are just some of the ways we help patients, families and nurses. Please note not all areas are available at any given time, some have prerequisites, and all require training beyond entry-level instruction.
