Accommodation in Vancouver The city of Vancouver is one of the most spectacular cities in the world. Located between the Pacific Ocean and the snow-capped Coastal Mountains, Vancouver offers year-round outdoor activities from sailing to snow-boarding. Walk along the city beaches and through the forested parks or shop and go to a café along the famous Robson Street. Accommodation in Vancouver Campus UBC Gage Residence The Gage Residence is located in the heart of the beautiful University of British Columbia campus, close to parks and beaches, and is just 30 minutes to LSI Vancouver by public transportation. Features private rooms in an apartment-style residence. Living area, kitchen and washroom is shared with other guests. Continental breakfast provided at nearby Pacific Spirit Place. Students are given breakfast tickets at check in. Facilities available include a television lounge, internet café, lounge areas, and fitness facilities. Coin laundry is available. Prices per person per week are $465 for a single room, breakfast included. Extra nights are charged at $65 per night. Students are required to pay a $50 key/damage deposit at the beginning of their stay. Available in summer only (May 15 August 21, 2011). Minimum guest age of 18. YWCA Residence Residence Hotels The YWCA Residence offers simple and economical accommodation in a central location in downtown Vancouver, a 15-minute walk from LSI. Single and double rooms available; shared, private or semi-private bathroom. Facilities include a television lounge, internet café, lounge areas, and fitness facilities. There is a kitchen for self-catering but not all utensils are provided. Coin laundry is available. Prices per night vary with room type and length of stay. Single rooms available from $75 (off season) to $85 (peak season). Double room from $92 (off season) to $112 (peak season). Discounted weekly and monthly rates available. Available year-round. Please note that room type is subject to availability. Hostels Hostelling International - Downtown Vancouver This Hostel is a good place for independent students looking to meet other travellers. It is close to many shops and restaurants, and only a 10-minute walk from LSI. Features dorm-style shared accommodation with shared bathroom or private rooms with shared or private bathroom. Facilities include a games room, library, TV room with cable and free movies, tours and activities, fully equipped kitchen, laundry, internet access. All linen, bedding towels and breakfast provided free of charge. Prices for dorm rooms range from $33 (off season) to $38 (peak season) per person, per night. Private rooms with shared bathroom range from $83 (off season) to $98 (peak season) per room, per night. Private rooms with en-suite bathroom from $85 (off season) to $117 (peak season), per room, per night. Please note that room type is subject to availability. Maximum 28 night stay. 3
Accommodation in Vancouver Hotels The Quality Inn at False Creek Centrally located in downtown Vancouver, the Quality Inn is approximately 5-10 minutes walking distance from LSI and close to Stanley Park, Granville Island and other major Vancouver attractions Facilities include: parking, gift shop, lounge area, room service, outdoor heated pool, fitness centre, restaurant, hair/beauty salon, internet access. Standard hotel rooms or one bedroom suites available featuring full kitchens and bathrooms, enclosed balconies and either one king bed or two double beds. Lord Stanley Suites on the Park Located in downtown Vancouver, next to the world-famous Stanley Park, the Lord Stanley is a 10 minute bus ride or 25 minute walk to LSI. Accommodation in Toronto Campus Ryerson University Residences There are two residences available to students during the summer months: The International Living & Learning Centre and Pitman Hall. Both buildings are on the university s downtown campus, two blocks from the Eaton Centre on Dundas Street East and only 4 short subway stops from LSI. The International Living & Learning Centre: Rooms: All guest rooms are equipped with a queen or double size bed. Some rooms are equipped with a pullout sofa bed. Each guest room is equipped with an en-suite (private) bathroom, color television, alarm clock, telephone, air conditioning, and amenities. Meals: Includes hot breakfast. Facilities: 24-hr. front desk and security, multilingual staff, non-smoking building, TV lounge, kitchenettes, weekly housekeeping services, laundry facilities, underground parking. Price: CD$540 per week. Availability: Summer only- May 5 to Aug. 26, 2011. ***Internet is available at CD$50 per month. ***An initial key/damage deposit of CD$200 is payable at the beginning of the stay. This is refundable when students return the key on departure. Neill-Wycik Residence (Student Summer Hotel) This residence is located on Gerrard Street east, near Yonge Street. Rooms: Single rooms with shared bathrooms. Neill-Wycik's floors are sub-divided into units. Each unit contains 4, 5, or 6 individual bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen/lounge common area. Most of the units are recently renovated and the rooms are spacious and bright (due to the large windows). Guests in each unit are responsible for ensuring their rooms and the unit itself stays clean. Meals: Continental breakfast included. Facilities: Shared kitchen, common room w/tv, Internet access, weight room, rooftop patio, laundry facilities, snack bar, 24-hour security, and daily housekeeping. Price (per person): CD$250/week, CD$900/month. Availability: Summer only (mid-may to mid-august, 2011) ***A damage deposit of CD$350 is payable at the beginning of the stay. Accommodation in Toronto Canadiana Inn Residence Hotels The Canadiana Inn is located a few minutes walk to attractions, including: CN Tower, Rogers Centre, Air Canada Centre, and Queen Street West. Rooms: Single, Double, and Quad (4 people per room). Shower rooms and toilets are shared. Meals: Pancake breakfast, coffee + tea Facilities: Common room with TV, 18-seat movie theatre, free Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, 24-hour security, and locker rentals.
