Life on Board Marco Polo
Life on board Marco Polo Having sailed the Seven Seas for over half a century, Marco Polo can justifiably lay claim to having looked after more passengers on memorable cruise voyages than most, and she has built a reputation that is the envy of many a modern mega-ship. With a relaxed, convivial atmosphere, friendly experienced staff and a range of amenities and diversions to keep you occupied should you wish to be during long passages at sea, Marco Polo is the perfect choice for a voyage to an exciting corner of the globe. From the moment you awaken, until you retire to your cabin, there are a whole variety of shipboard experiences to enjoy. Head for an exercise class or the fitness centre to balance the calorie intake then head for breakfast! Join in a daily quiz or attend an informative lecture, to learn about the next fascinating port of call. Competitive types might sign up for deck games, enthusiasts for dance classes, whilst like-minded folk might head for a hand or two of bridge, while others curl up with a good book in the Palm Garden lounge. Of course, on countless fine days, a deckchair or sun-lounger is the only place to be. On arrival in each new port of call, go ashore to explore new surroundings on an organised optional shore excursion, or under your own steam. Evenings on board Marco Polo are always memorable occasions, as the ship s understated elegance and air of quiet
sophistication come into their own. Meet for drinks in one of the bars, before taking your seat for dinner, followed by your choice of entertainment. Dining on Marco Polo always a pleasure! There are plenty of options when it comes to mealtimes on board Marco Polo calorie counters and the diet-conscious will have difficulties resisting temptation, as sumptuous meals balance out any time spent in the fitness centre, or any number of turns round the Amundsen Deck! The ship s main dining room, the Waldorf, situated low on Atlantic Deck, is a haven of understated elegance, where friendly and attentive waiters ensure that each meal is a special experience. Marco Polo s chefs do their level best to ensure that diets are forgotten, although there is always the Healthy Choice option for the guilty, or saintly, to choose. Full continental and cooked breakfasts ensure each day starts well, and both luncheon, (where hot and cold dishes are offered) and dinner (both à la carte) can be taken in these elegant surroundings. The Waldorf is proud of its status as a proper formal dining room, and is the perfect backdrop to some memorable meal times. Dining in the Waldorf is a two-sitting arrangement. As an alternative restaurant venue, pool-side Marco s, the ship s more casual location, is every bit as enjoyable, whether it s for an early breakfast or relaxed lunch perhaps taken al fresco or for a less formal evening, does not suffer by comparison. Wherever you choose to eat, you can accompany your meal with a selection from the ship s extensive and reasonably priced wine list. During each cruise there will be a Captain s Welcome and Farewell Party, as well as other themed dinners. Of course, all meals on board Marco Polo, including morning coffee and afternoon tea and cakes and late night snacks, are included in the great value cruise prices. First-class Entertainment After dinner Marco Polo has an air of intimacy, with the Columbus Lounge piano bar and the larger Captain s Club both pleasant venues in which to meet friends, while the Marco Polo Theatre Lounge purpose built, slightly raked for good all-round viewing and with a good sized stage is the venue for the nightly cabaret shows from the professional team. For night owls Scott s nightclub provides yet more entertainment.
