Getting started with EPC Server: 32 4. Getting started with EPC Server: 4.1 Configure the EPC Administration Settings 4.1.1 EPC Admin Configurations After installing the server software, users must configure the EPC users and environments. This is done through the Admin portal. NOTE: Flash Player v19 is required in order to access the Admin Portal. If it is not already installed, users will receive the following message upon log in: Alternate HTML content should be placed here. This content requires the Adobe Flash Player. Get Flash Follow the link to download and install Flash Player v19: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?p1_prod_version=shockwaveflash 4.1.1.1 Open EPC Web Portal Once the EPC Server has launched, open the web browser and navigate to the EPCWelcomePage. The web page's address is http://localhost:18080. 1. Start the browser and enter http://localhost:18080 in the Address field.[if the URL doesn t work, enter http://127.0.0.1:18080 instead.] 2. On the Welcome Page, enter the admin username and password (epcadmin/epcadmin). Select Web Admin Environment from the Environment drop-down. 3. Click Login. The EPC Web Portal opens. 4. Once logged in to the Web Portal, select the Admin tab to access the Admin Portal.

Getting started with EPC Server: 33 4.1.1.2 Creating Environments 18. Select Environments in the Environment section. The only listed environment will be the Web Admin Environment. This is the environment that is created by default when EPC is installed. Only Administrators should have access to this environment, and the environment should never contain Modeler data. The purpose of this environment is for Administrators to create other environments and configure EPC users. 19. Select Create Environment. 20. Enter a name and a description of the environment and click Submit.

Getting started with EPC Server: 34 The newly created environment will now be saved in the environment list. Repeat this process to create all necessary environments. 4.1.1.3 Creating EPC Users Every EPC user must have a user account in order to access the EPC Modeler or the EPC Web Portal. Click the Admin tab to return to the main Admin page. 1. Select Users in the Security section. It is from this window that the users are created, placed in groups, and assigned to environments.

Getting started with EPC Server: 35 If users are to be imported from Active Directory, select Synchronize with Active Directory. All users designated as EPC users in Active Directory will be imported, with the appropriately assigned access rights. To modify imported users, make the necessary changes in Active Directory and then select Synchronize with Active Directory to update the user accounts. Skip ahead to section 3.7.1.4Assign Users to Groups. If users are not to be imported from Active Directory, or if there are EPC users who do not have Active Directory accounts, follow the steps below to properly create users. Only users that are manually created in EPC can be modified or removed. System-created users cannot be modified or removed. 21. Select Create User. 22. Enter the appropriate information (username, password, name, etc). Mandatory fields have a star (*) beside them. 23. If the members of the group are to have access to the Modeler and/or the WebPortal, select the appropriate check boxes.

Getting started with EPC Server: 36 24. If the members of the group are also to have system administrator rights, select the EPC Administrator check box. Since EPC Administrators are system administrators, they will have access to the Admin Module. 25. Once all the information is complete, click Submit. 26. Repeat these steps to create each user. 4.1.1.4 Assign Users to Groups Admins may want to place certain users within a single group. Placing users into groups means that any setting or permission assigned to the group will be inherited by the group's users. Administrators use this feature when managing a large number of users with the same settings. If users are not to be placed groups, please skip ahead to section 3.1.5.5 Assign Users and Groups to Environments. EPC automatically creates three user groups named "Everyone", "Administrators" and "Authenticated Users". These groups cannot be modified or deleted. All users are automatically placed in the "Everyone" group when they are created. Users defined as administrators are placed in the "Administrators" group, while the remaining users are placed in the group "Authenticated Users". Follow the steps below to create groups. Click Admin to return to the main Admin page. 2. Select Group in the Security section. 3. Select Create Group. 4. Enter the desired name of the user group. 5. If the members of the group are to have access to the Modeler and/or the WebPortal, select the appropriate check boxes. 6. Select the EPC Administrator check box to grant access to the Admin Module. 7. Click Submit. The group is created and added to the list of groups.

Getting started with EPC Server: 37 8. Select User for the desired group. 9. Select the desired users from the Available field and click the arrow pointing to the right. The users are placed in the Selected field. 27. To remove a user, select the user from the Selected field and click the arrow pointing to the left. The user is returned to the Available field. 28. Select Submit. The users are added to the selected group. NOTE: It is also possible to place users within groups from the Users page. Click Group next to the desired user and select the appropriate user to place in the group. 4.1.1.5 Assign Users and Groups to Environments A user must also be associated to an environment in order to gain access to that environment. The user can either be associated directly to the environment, or through a group. 10. Click Admin to return to the main Admin page. Select Environments from the Environments section. 11. Select User for the newly created environment.

Getting started with EPC Server: 38 12. Select the desired user or group from the Add users/groups drop-down and click Add. 13. The user/group is assigned to the environment with no permissions. Select Edit to assign specific permissions to the user. 14. Assign the desired permissions and click Submit. Full Control allows the user all editing and approval rights. Write Delete allows the user to modify and remove any EPC object (except object sets). Write allows the user to modify any EPC object (except object sets). Read allows the user to only view EPC objects. Set Approval Cycle allows the user to structure and modify approval cycles. If Admins want the user to be an administrator of a selected environment, select the Is environment admin check box. Environment administrators can create object sets, and perform imports and exports.

Getting started with EPC Server: 39 4.1.2 Exclude EPC 9.x from the Antivirus scan Depending on the company s level of security, anti-virus software can greatly decrease the performance of EPC. Please exclude the following directories from the anti-virus software scan to avoid slow performance issues: [location of EPC installation]\epc\epcserver\wildfly-8.2.0.final\standalone\log [location of EPC installation]\epc\epcserver\wildfly-8.2.0.final\standalone\tmp [location of EPC installation]\epc\epcserver\wildfly-8.2.0.final\standalone\data 4.1.3 Starting the EPC Service 15. On the user's local PC, click the Windows 'Start' Button. 16. Click "All Programs". 17. Click "Enterprise Process Center".

Getting started with EPC Server: 40 18. Right click on "Start Service" and choose Run as Administrator, confirm if prompted for launching. 19. Start the Internet Explorer browser and enter http://localhost:18080 in the Address field.[if the URL doesn t work, enter http://127.0.0.1:18080 instead.] 4.1.4 Modeler Login The Modeler with the Launch button will be called here as Java Web Start Modeler (or JWS Modeler). This EPC Modeler is installed automatically on the client machine in the client s java cache. The JWS Modeler application files are managed by Java.

Getting started with EPC Server: 41 20. To launch the JWS Modeler click the Launch button. 21. Enter your EPC Username, Password and Environment and click OK.

Getting started with EPC Server: 42 4.1.5 Express Modeler The Express Modeler (available in EPC 9.6 only) is installed in a different way on the Client machine and is provides exactly the same functionality as the normal Modeler (which uses Java Web Start) that is launched with the normal Launch button on each page of the web-portal. The Express Modeler is installed automatically in the itc folder (by default located in user profile folder %userprofile%). This Modeler requires about 120MB of disk space. Compared to Java Web Start Modeler this Modeler can be launched with an.exe file. Except for a new version first time download, the Express Modeler will launch faster than the normal Modeler thereafter. Important: The Express modeler still requires Java to be installed on the client machine same version as recommended in the client requirement document. 1. To install and launch the Express Modeler for the first time click the Express Modeler link on the EPC Welcome page v 2. You may be prompted by Java to run the Modeler application, please chose Run 3. First download: The Express Modeler will be downloaded from the local standalone EPC Server on the first launch. You will see a progress bar for the Modeler application.

Getting started with EPC Server: 43 4. After the download is complete, the application will be installed automatically on the client PC and launched. 5. There will be created a windows start menu called EPC Modeler with the shortcut to launch the Express Modeler with version verification. This launcher will verify on EPC Server if there is newer version of Express Modeler. It is recommended to use it if EPC Server was upgraded. 6. To launch the Express Modeler faster, it is possible to launch the Express Modeler with exe file which can be found in the itc folder on client machine: C:\Users\<your username>\itc\localhost-18080\launch\http localhost_epcmodeler<modeler version>-local_\modeler\bin Ex. C:\Users\epcadmin\itc\localhost-18080\launch\http localhost_epcmodeler96- local_\modeler\bin In this folder will be two.exe files: modeler.exe modeler64.exe

Getting started with EPC Server: 44 If on the client machine is installed the 32 bit version of java, please use the modeler.exe, if the java on the client machine is 64 bit please use the modeler64.exe 7. Create a shortcut to the appropriate.exe file on your desktop. In order to create the shortcut to Express Modeler, right click on the appropriate.exe file and choose send to in drop down menu, than chose Desktop (create shortcut) If you use Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or windows 10, you can chose the option Pin to Taskbar or Pin to Start Menu
