Element General Requirement To be defined in the project brief but should meet Building Regulations. All doors to be a minimum of 30 minute fire rated and must comply with all relevant UK legislation and standards. Fabric Finish Doors must NOT be factory finished but should be suitable for on site maintenance. Finish may be paint or varnish but should be area / project specific. Ironmongery Door furniture Ironmongery - Hinges All ironmongery to be stainless steel, high quality, robust and suitable for ****** number of operations. Kick plates must be fitted to both sides of the door, be a minimum of 150mm deep and screw fixed with the adequate number of dome screws.. Additional door protection should be considered in areas of high traffic where trolleys are used. Where doors open in one direction only, they should be fitted with the appropriate handle/push plates and labelled appropriately see signage below. Hinges should be stainless steel and should be adequate in size and number to suit the size and weight of the door. Heights Door heights should not exceed 2.1m. Fire Resistance Vision Panels Doors to be suitably fire protected to suit the environment in which they are situated, including risers, equipment and store cupboard doors. If a vision panel or glazing is required in a fire door or partition, then the glazing must be Fire Resisting Glazing of 30 / 60 minute integrity meeting BS 476: Part 11-1987 Fire tests on building materials and structures. Glass types must be Pyro and not Georgian Wired. Pryo FR glazing should be identifiable by acid etching with the trade name in the corner of the pane and marked with BS 476 Part 22. Important note: This standard sets out the basic functional requirements for a typical new or refurbished door. Smoke Seals Signage Closers Smoke seals should be recessed into the door as per BS 476 Part 31.1. All doors as identified above (ironmongery) and fire doors must be clearly labelled as such using printed metal signs, screw fixed using dome screws. All fire doors to be fitted with automatic closers of the appropriate specification for the door size / weight. Closers should be Briton unless otherwise specified and approved by CUL. Double Doors Where double doors are to be installed, the left hand leaf should be fitted with top and bottom stainless steel flush bolts. Mortice locks should be fitted unless otherwise specified. Locks Locks should be oval profile to accommodate Best cylinders see the attached table appendix A.
