9/29/2004 IESNA EDUCATIONAL LIGHTING COURSE ED 100 To Be Given BY TEXAS CAPITAL SECTION IESNA AUSTIN, TEXAS The IES Beginning Lighting Course, ED100, is for people wanting to learn beginning- to mid-range lighting subject matter. It is being offered to everyone in the design and specifying communities, as well as contractors and distributor personnel. If you are an Architect, Engineer, Interior Designer, Lighting Designer, Landscape Architect, General Contractor, or Electrical Contractor, Electrician, or Distributor, this course would be a benefit to you. ED 100 is the beginning level of instruction to prepare you for the NCQLP exam. If you are considering taking the NCQLP exam to become Lighting Certified information on the next test date can be found at www.ncqlp.org. The advanced lighting course offered by IES is ED 150. That course will be offered in 2005. Cost of ED 100 Course $225.00 for members of IES $275.00 for Non-Members INSTRUCTORS BIO S Asha Hegde, Ph.D., LC: Asha, has devoted the past 18 years teaching, researching and recently designing lighting in interior environments. Currently, she is an adjunct faculty of Interior Design and Lighting Design at Texas State University, San Marcos, TX. She also has her lighting design and education practice where she conducts and presents continuing education seminars across the nation to architects; and interior designers on the topic of light and color. Asha, has a BS in Interior Design from Florida State University and a MS and Ph.D., in Human Environmental Sciences with an emphasis in lighting from Oklahoma State University. She is an active member/officer of IESNA both at the Section and Regional level. As an IESNA, ED-100/ED-150 instructor (Texas Capital Section; 1995-2004) she has taught topics such as: light and color; vision and aging eye; and light applications. DEBORAH FRANKHOUSER LC: Deborah has a Bachelor s degree in Theatrical Production from the University of North Texas, Denton. She has been designing theatrical lighting since 1988 and has worked at Archillume Lighting Design since 1995. Deborah received Lighting Certification from the NCQLP in November of 2001. Deborah is a member of United States Institute if Theatre Technology, The Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, and an Associate member of the International Association of Lighting Designers. She also holds an Associate s degree in Sound, Recording, and Production. Deborah also is an excellent instructor and has a very diversified background in lighting with vast knowledge regarding aesthetics and task lighting. CHARLES THOMPSON, AIA,LC: Charles, founder of Archillume Lighting Design, is a member of the AIA and an Interior designer, a member of the International Association of Lighting Designers and a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America. Charles is one of the first lighting professionals to receive lighting certification from the NCQLP. He was principal-in-charge of lighting and electrical design for a Texas based consulting engineering firm from 1980 to 1985, and is currently president of Archillume Lighting Design, Inc. Charles has given numerous lighting presentations for the AIA, The Texas Society of Architects, and at Lightfair, the annual international lighting exposition in Las Vegas and New York City. Charles has the knowledge and experience to take complicated subject matter and present it in such a manner that everyone will understand and appreciate. ROBERT SUMMERFORD: Robert graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1995. He has been employed at Wide-Lite for 7 years as a Design Engineer specializing in Optic Design. His work has lead to several awarded patents. He was head of the Application Department for the past year and is a Member of IESNA Roadway Lighting Committee. He is experienced in the design and use of several new Area lights, Floodlights, Sports lights, and indoor luminaries with emphasis on HID and Compact Fluorescent. David J. Schoch, IESNA: David graduated with a Bachelor of Business degree in Finance in 1985. He has been employed at Holophane for 5 years as a Factory Sales 3

Representative. He is an active member of IESNA Texas Capital Section and held the position of Education Chair for the IES ED-100 lighting course in 1998. David has been employed in the construction industry for over 20 years including a variety of positions: such as, construction estimator, project management, superintendent, quality control and sales. You will be responsible for providing your lunch each day. There are a few restaurants within walking distance from LCRA that have a nice lunch menu.
