Student Uniforms and Dress Code Clearwater Academy is one of the premiere schools in our area with a reputation of high standards, and in keeping with that reputation we have a uniform policy. All of us, including children, wear different hats in life. Everyone has different areas of life they are responsible for specific jobs or hats. When we are wearing a particular hat then we dress appropriately for that environment. We have different clothes for different jobs and that includes school. Our students come here as students. That is their job from 9:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. and they should dress for their job. With our uniform policy in place we are able to maintain a professional environment a place of work rather than just social time. This updated uniform policy is being issued to help our parents and students clearly understand what is expected of them. Uniforms All students are to be dressed in accordance with the student uniform policy. Our uniform policy not only includes the uniform clothing but also its appearance and accessories, which are outlined in the next section on dress code. Our dress code is also part of this policy. Preschool Our preschool students are not required to wear the uniform, although it is highly recommended that preschoolers wear a t-shirt with the Clearwater Academy International logo. Preschoolers do need to wear a school t-shirt on field trips. 1
Grades K-1 8 th Tops The uniform top is a solid colored polo with our school logo embroidered on the shirt. There is no restriction on the colors and polos must be purchased from Land s End. The school can order these and usually has an ample supply on hand. Either short or long sleeve may be chosen, depending upon preference and the time of the year. Summer During the months of June through September, students can wear CAI t-shirts as their uniform shirt. During this time there may also be special summer program shirts available which also may be worn in this time. Uniform Care Uniforms should be washed according to label instructions. Do not use chlorine bleach or wash lights with darks. It is recommended that polos be hung up to dry in order to prevent fading. Bottoms Shorts or pants may be worn and purchased from any supplier. The color choices for the bottoms are any solid color, but no denim. Girls Options Girls may also choose to wear skorts or skirts. As an alternative to the above tops and bottoms, girls may also elect to wear the navy blue jumper with a white collared shirt. These blouses may only be worn with the jumper, not with any of the other bottoms. 2
Additional For colder weather, boys or girls may wear the Land s End jackets, sweaters and sweatshirts, with our school logo. There are many choices available please check with the bookstore. All students should have some of the above colder weather wear if they wish to cover their polos inside the classrooms. While sweater, sweatshirts or jackets without the CAI logo may be worn outdoors; inside the classroom students may only wear the above with the logo. High School Our high school students do not have a specific uniform to wear. They are, however, expected to dress in a professional manner and are expected to follow our dress code, which is outlined below. PE Clothing From the 4 th grade on up, a change of clothing must be provided for PE. The student must have sneakers, sport shorts and a Clearwater Academy PE t-shirt. Dress Code The following is the Clearwater Academy dress code. It outlines the general appearance expected of our students. This code should be followed by all our students, whether wearing our uniform or not. It should especially be followed by our high school students and by students who have earned a free dress day. Free dress days are a privilege that a student can use when they make student of the week, when it is their birthday or when a special free dress day is announced. If a student s birthday falls on a weekend day then they may dressup on the Friday before. 3

Our students are the best on the planet they study their material to a 100% standard, they contribute to our community and they have a great time while doing all that. Our uniform policy reflects the high standards of our students and the professionalism that they use every day at their job as a student at Clearwater Academy International. 6
