Care and Maintenance Chapter 1. Getting to know the C774 It is normal for your wireless device to get warm when you use it. Use your wireless device and accessories with care in clean environment. Keep the wireless device away from open flame or dusty environments. Protect your device and accessories from water and vapor and keep them dry. Do not drop, throw or bend your device. Clean your device with a piece of damp and soft antistatic cloth. Do not use any chemical agents (such as alcohol and benzene), chemical detergents or powder to clean the device. Do not leave your device or accessories in significantly high or low temperature environments. Use only manufacturer approved accessories and parts. Contact an authorized service center in regard to device or accessory abnormalities. Do not dismantle or tamper with the device or accessories. (See Install the 4G LTE SIM Card, Page 4) 2 Install the Antennas. (See Installing the Antennas, page 4) 3 Insert and charge the battery. (See Charging the battery, Page 5) 4 Hooking up your telephone. (See Hooking up your telephone, Page 6) 5 Plug-in the Power Adapter and turn on the device. (See Turn on the device, Page 6) 6 Activate your device (See Activate your device, Page 7) 7 Connect the device to your computer using Wi-Fi or LAN. (See Connecting to the Router, Page 8) 3

2.1 Installing the 4G LTE SIM Card 2.2 Installing the Antennas To install your SIM card, follow these steps. To install the antennas, follow these steps. 1 Insert your SIM card into the UPPER 2 nd slot. 2 The SIM card MUST remain in the SIM card slot when in use. 1 Align the antennas with the antenna posts on the C774 router as shown below. 2 Mount the antennas on the antenna posts, ensuring the connection. 3 Swivel the antennas in any direction, in order to better fix the antennas, please check where you place your router. 4

2.3 Charging the battery 1 Open the battery door at the back panel of C774 router. 2 Insert a new battery which the plus (+) and minus (-) marking match the markings in the battery compartment. 3 Close the battery door. Note When the A/C Power adapter is connected then the battery will charge automatically. The battery power can supply power for voice calling service in case of power outage or emergency. The Wi-Fi and LAN service will be disabled during battery powered operation. 2.4 Battery Tips Warning Use only Franklin Wireless approved batteries and chargers with your device. Failure to use a Franklin Wireless approved battery and charger may increase the risk that your device will overheat, catch fire, and/or explode resulting in property damage, serious bodily injury, and/or death. Battery life can vary based on the network, signal strength, temperature, features, and accessories you use. If you connect your device to your computer using the USB cable, the battery will charge. It normally takes at least 3 hours to fully charge the battery with an A/C Power adapter. New batteries or batteries stored for a long time may take additional time to charge. When charging your battery, keep it near or below room temperature. Never expose batteries to temperatures below 32 F (0 C) or above 113 F (45 C). Never leave the device in an unattended vehicle due to uncontrollable temperature variations. It is normal for batteries to gradually weaken and require longer charging times. If you notice a change in your battery life, it may be time to purchase a new battery. 5

2.5 Hooking up your telephone 2.7 Network Access 1 Plug in your telephone into RJ-11 port 1 or port 2 as shown below. 4G Mobile Broadband with LTE* Download speeds of up to 100 Mbps Upload speeds of up to 50 Mbps 3G Mobile Broadband with 1xEVDO Rev.A* Download speeds of up to 3.1 Mbps. Upload speeds of up to 1.8 Mbps. 2.6 Turn on the device 2G Voice Call with CDMA 1xRTT.* Incoming and Outgoing Voice Call Service 1 Connect the A/C Power Adapter to the C774 router and plug the Power Adapter into an outlet. 2 Press the Power On/Off button. Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n 802.11b/g/n speed of up to 11 Mbps/54 Mbps/150 Mbps 6

2.8 Activate your device Activating LTE Data Service 1 After inserting your SIM card, power up the C774 router, and connect the router with your PC (LAN or Wi-Fi). 2 Open your web browser and enter http://192.168.1.1/ into the address window of your browser, Enter your username and password in the Login dialog. (See more detail in Chapter 3) 3 Once connected, check the USIM State in the WWAN menu. A. If your SIM card did not activate properly, you will see the USIM State as Inactive as shown below. B. If your SIM card activated correctly, you will see the USIM State as Active as shown below. Warning If your SIM card did not come pre-activated or you need to re-activate your SIM card, you may need to: A. Go to your network operator s retail store. B. Contact your network operator s customer service department. In case of using damaged SIM cards, locked SIM card or no SIM Card, you will see following Web UI. Activating Voice call Service 1 Connect your telephone in the C774 router. 2 Pick up your telephone handset to make a call. 3 Press the dial button to *228 in order to dial up the activation system of your network operator. 4 When the activation process is done, you should hear a voice message from your network operator system. Warning If the activation process did not complete or you were unable to make a Voice Call service please: A. Go to your network operator s retail store. B. Contact your network operator s customer service department. 7

2.9 Connecting to the Router Please connect your computer to the C774 router if you haven t already. Wi-Fi connection 1 Turn on your computer and turn on the C774 router. The router s LTE( ) LED should be solid green or orange, indicating the device is in service and ready to connect. The C774 router broadcasts its own wireless network. 2 On your computer, use the Wi-Fi manager (Windows) or the AirPort menu bar icon (Mac OS X) to connect wirelessly to the C774 router s wireless network. 3 The steps to connect to a Wi-Fi network may vary depending on your operating system native Wi-Fi application, or third-party software used. Generally, you click an icon in the Windows notification area where you can select View Available Wireless Networks, or click the Airport icon in the menu bar on a Mac. If you are unfamiliar with wireless networking on your computer, consult the computer s help system. 4 Select your C774 router s network name (Franklin_CPE XXXX Secure, where XXXX are digits unique to your device), click Connect, and type in your password. Your network name (SSID), and Wi-Fi/Admin passwords are on the back of your device as well as on the Quick Start Guide. LAN connection 1 Plug in the Ethernet Cable to connect your computer and the C774 router s LAN( ) LED should be solid blue, indicating the detection for the Ethernet Cable Connection. 2 The C774 router uses a Standard TCP/IP properties for DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) and should connect immediately without any user action. If you need to use a static IP address you will need to change the settings IP settings using advance options. Voice connection 1 Plug in the RJ-11 Cable to connect your telephone, The router s Voice( ) LED should be solid green or orange, indicating the device is in service and ready to use Voice Call Service. 8

(f) Product damaged from external causes such as fire, flooding, dirt, sand, weather conditions, battery leakage, blown fuse, theft or improper usage of any electrical source. The Company disclaims liability for removal or reinstallation of the product, for geographic coverage, for inadequate signal reception by the antenna or for communications range or operation of the cellular system as a whole. When sending your wireless device to Franklin Wireless authorized distributions for repair or service, please note that any personal data or software stored on the device may be inadvertently erased or altered. Therefore, we strongly recommend you make a back up copy of all data and software contained on your device before submitting it for repair or service. This includes all contact lists, downloads (i.e. third-party software applications, games and graphics) and any other data added to your device. Franklin Wireless is not responsible for and does not guarantee restoration of any third-party software, personal information or memory data contained in, stored on, or integrated with any wireless device, whether under warranty or not, returned to Franklin Wireless authorized distributors for repair or service. To obtain repairs or replacement within the terms of this Warranty, the product should be delivered with proof of Warranty coverage (e.g. dated bill of sale), the consumer s return address, daytime phone number and/or fax number and complete description of the problem, transportation prepaid, to the Company at the address shown below or to the place of purchase for repair or replacement processing. In addition, for reference to an authorized Warranty station in your area, please call (800)959-3558 in the United States. The extent of the company s liability under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement provided above and, in no event, shall the company s liability exceed the purchase price paid by purchaser for the product. Any implied warranties, including any implied warranty of merchant ability or fitness for a particular purpose, shall be limited to the duration of this written warranty. Any action for breach of any warranty must be brought within a period of 18 months from date of original purchase, but in no case shall the company be liable for a special consequential or incidental damages for breach of this or any other warranty, express or implied, whatsoever.
