A Village Generates its Own Electricity and Heat by using mass. 2009-12-02 Transatlantic Climate Bridge / Atlanta 2009-12-02 1
Motivation Today, we are faced with one of the biggest challenges of all time climate change The right spirit: Problems are always opportunities mass has fantastic opportunities CO 2 neutral and sustainable stores energy from the sun convertible on your demand allows sustainable economic development etc 2009-12-02 2
First energy Village in Germany SOP=2005 Jühnde 2009 750 inhabitants 9 farmers 1300 ha fields 800 ha wood 2009-12-02 3
Motivation for a energy Village The Idea came from University of Göttingen: Self-sufficient Heating and Electricity Supply Using mass Goals of the project: economical (independent, agriculture income, middle term investment) ecological (CO-2 neutral, lesser mineral fertilizer, biodiversity) social (stronger local society, responsibility for each other, democratic decisions) Village Jühnde has been inspired by the idea, took the challenge, has build an cooperative society, made a investment decision for 7,5 Mio$ and is now responsible for the business Electricity produced = 2x 2x Electricity consumed 2009-12-02 4

Is this an option for Georgia? 1. Market needs Electricity Coldness Heat ecomomic solutions decentralized production and consuming 2. Technology 3. Ressources (Geman) Technolgy available for US CHP-process very efficient Industry-standard versus agricultural standard (adaption) Plants and wood Manure (or organic waste) 2009-12-02 20
Is this an option for Georgia? 4. Motivation 5. Participation Independency Rural development Environmental Protection Sustainible economic developement Democracy social strength based on strong communities 6. Acceptance Convincing people should be possible awareness to implement solutions is growing 2009-12-02 21
Why not in the Georgia? Specially in Rural areas with Villages up to 3000 inhabitants it should be possible to implement similar energy-village concepts. Adaption should be possible. 2009-12-02 22
