BRAND HOW SHOULD THE PRODUCTS INCLUDED IN THE SATINIQUE COLLECTION BE STORED? For maximum stability the product should be stored at room temperature (below 30 C) and away from direct sunlight. WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF THE SATINIQUE PRODUCTS AND HOW LONG CAN I KEEP EACH PRODUCT AFTER IT HAS BEEN OPENED? The shelf life for all SATINIQUE products is 3 years. After opening it is 12 months. WHAT CLINICAL TESTING OR LABORATORY SUPPORT IS AVAILABLE FOR THESE PRODUCTS? Third party clinical testing was done to support all safety and most efficacy claims. Some efficacy claims are substantiated using validated laboratory testing conducted at the SATINIQUE laboratories. This is true for all SATINIQUE products. WHO DO YOU RECOMMEND USING SATINIQUE TO? SATINIQUE is designed to meet a variety of needs and is suitable for the whole family. It is not recommended for children under the age of 6. IS SATINIQUE SAFE AND EFFECTIVE FOR ALL HAIR TYPES? SATINIQUE products were developed to meet a variety of hair requirements, and are safe and effective for all hair types. We would recommend using Color Repair on colour-treated hair to minimise colour fading. CAN I USE PRODUCTS INTERCHANGEABLY? Yes, the collection was designed with a system for a customised approach. BRAND ARE SULFATES BAD FOR HAIR? There are many classes of sulfates. We have done extensive research to confirm SATINIQUE uses gentle sulfates that do not strip the hair. All formulas were developed to be mild enough for daily use through safety and clinical testing. SATINIQUE Color Repair formula is sulfate-free. WHAT IS A SULFATE? Sulfates are a general class of ingredients used across many products to clean hair. Sulfates are said to wash away colour quicker. SATINIQUE S Color Repair sulfate-free formula helps to keep the colour truer, longer. IS SATINIQUE GLUTEN-FREE? Yes, SATINIQUE contains no wheat derived ingredients. DOES SATINIQUE CONTAIN PARABENS? Most leave-in products such as Overnight Leave-in Treatment, Scalp Tonic, Straightening Balm, Matte Wax, Dual Defend Spray, Styling Cream, do contain parabens, and are safe. HOW DID YOU CHOOSE THE BOTANICALS THAT ARE IN EACH FORMULA? The blended botanicals and nutrients were purposefully chosen to support the needs of the various hair types. CARE HOW OFTEN SHOULD I USE SATINIQUE CARE PRODUCTS? Shampoos and Conditioners can be used every day. SHOULD I SWITCH MY DAILY SHAMPOOS? IF SO, HOW OFTEN? This is a common myth; switching is not needed. It is best to choose the product which suits your needs. However, if your needs change (i.e. you begin colouring your hair), you may want to consider switching care products. WHY ARE ONLY THE COLOR REPAIR SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER SULFATE-FREE? All SATINIQUE shampoos and conditioners are safe and gentle. However, the Color Repair formula was designed to be extra gentle to minimise colour fading to help keep colour truer, longer. I DO NOT COLOUR MY HAIR. WOULD I STILL BENEFIT FROM THE COLOR REPAIR FORMULAS? Yes, these formulas are mild and are ideal for any damaged hair. WHAT CONDITIONER SHOULD I USE WITH THE ANTI-DANDRUFF SHAMPOO? The Anti-Dandruff shampoo is compatible with all SATINIQUE hair care products. Use whatever conditioner best supports your hair concern (i.e. smooth & moisture, volume, colour protection, damaged, etc.) HOW LONG WILL SHAMPOOS AND CONDITIONERS LAST (USAGE RATE)? CARE HOW LONG BEFORE YOU CAN SEE RESULTS WHEN USING THE ANTI-DANDRUFF SHAMPOO? Significant results can be seen after 2 weeks of use, and become even more significant at 4 weeks. THE ANTI-DANDRUFF SHAMPOO ISN T WORKING, WHAT SHOULD I DO? Dry scalp can look similar to dandruff. We recommend you use the scalp tonic and/or consult a physician. CAN MY SHAMPOO CAUSE DANDRUFF? No. Shampoos do not cause dandruff. Dandruff is a chronic condition of the scalp. A failure of normal skin cell turnover rate, caused by a fungus called Malazzesia, results in skin cells that divide too quickly for the normal keratinization or hardening process at the epidermis of the scalp. Large, oily flakes peel off resulting in the appearance of dandruff. Shampoo containing a topical anti-fungal agent, such as zinc pyrithione, helps control the amount of Malazzesia on the scalp and reduces the flaking and irritation associated with dandruff. While shampoos do not cause dandruff, some people can mistake a dry scalp for dandruff. Dry scalp is caused by a number of factors such as excessive shampooing, the environment, and UV damage. People typically mistake the itching from dry scalp and presence of small, powdery flakes or styling residue for dandruff. CARE WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DANDRUFF AND DRY SCALP? Dandruff and dry scalp are often mistaken for one another. Here is a guide to help distinguish between the two scalp conditions: DANDRUFF: Dandruff is a clinical condition caused by the excessively shedding of dead skin cells from the scalp. Fungus present on the scalp reacts to an overproduction of sebum, causing irritation. The scalp s response to this irritation leads to an increased turnover of skin cells. Skin cells turn over more often, approximately every 15 days, as opposed to around a month for people without dandruff. The skin cells are shed in large clumps, appearing as white or grayish patches on the scalp, skin and clothes. DRY SCALP: Dry scalp occurs when the scalp loses moisture through factors such as overshampooing, environmental factors, such as heat or dry air, or UV damage. Dry scalp can cause itchiness. Dry scalp is characterised by small white flakes. CAN MY SHAMPOO IRRITATE MY SCALP? Shampoos contain cleansing agents, fragrances, and other ingredients that can be irritating to the scalp especially for individuals with more sensitivity. Environmental factors such as climate, pollution and UV exposure can also play a role in scalp sensitivity, along with incomplete rinsing that leaves cleansing agents on the skin and causes irritation. SATINIQUE shampoos have been formulated to minimise skin irritation through the use of mild surfactants and the inclusion of patented complexes shown to reduce irritation. SATINIQUE products are dermatologist and safety tested to ensure that they are safe to use. WHAT SHOULD I DO TO HELP MINIMISE ANY IRRITATION? The new SATINIQUE shampoos were developed to minimise irritation, yet some people may be more sensitive to shampoos than others. When shampooing, make sure that you rinse your hair and scalp adequately with warm water. Residual shampoo can potentially cause irritation if left on the scalp too long. Also, use less shampoo for easier rinsing and minimise the time spent massaging your scalp and lathering hair. CARE IS MY SHAMPOO MAKING MY HAIR FALL OUT? No. Shampoos do not cause hair to fall out. Most people lose 100 hairs a day on average, not including the weakened hairs that break easily from combing, blow drying or chemical processing. Research on hair loss and consultation with our Skin Care Advisory Board concludes that there are a number of physical conditions that can lead to a greater than average amount of hair to fall out in both men and women. These conditions are: Male Pattern Baldness Changes in hormone activity in women Pregnancy Stress Poor diet Scalp inflammation or skin disorder The SATINIQUE collection includes Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo, Anti-Hair Fall Conditioner and Scalp Tonic that were developed for people that have weak, fragile hair. When used together, these products are mild for the scalp and hair, and help strengthen and reduce breakage of fragile hair, making it look thicker and fuller. WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I NOTICE A LOT OF HAIR FALLING OUT WHILE SHAMPOOING? Excessive hair fall is likely due to an underlying condition (as noted above). Hair fall could also be normal hair shedding or a result of observing hair more carefully while using a new product. If you are concerned about the amount of hair you see fall while washing, you may want to seek advice from a physician. DOES THE ANTI-HAIRFALL SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER REVIVE HAIR FROM THE ROOT? No, this specific hair care conditions the outside of the hair to prevent breakage. WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I NOTICE FLAKES AFTER WASHING MY HAIR? Use SATINIQUE Anti-Dandruff Shampoo for at least 2 weeks. If flaking is still present you may have symptoms of dry scalp. The flakes could also be a result of a residual styling product that has not been sufficiently washed out. Try using less shampoo the next time you wash rinse your hair and scalp with an adequate supply of warm water. If the flakes continue, seek advice from a physician. TREAT CAN I USE THE REVITALIZING MASK AND THE OVERNIGHT REPAIR TREATMENT TOGETHER? Yes. The Revitalizing Mask rinses out and the Overnight Repair Treatment is a leave-in formula. WILL OVERNIGHT REPAIR TREATMENT STAIN MY PILLOW? No. It is a residue-free formula. Follow the proper instructions. Apply to damp or dry hair and allow hair to dry. DO I NEED TO RINSE OVERNIGHT REPAIR TREATMENT FROM MY HAIR IN THE MORNING? No, you do not have to rinse out the treatment, you may style your hair as normal. WHY DOES THE DUAL DEFEND SPRAY SEPARATE? To maximise the benefits, we use a dual phase technology. The Dual Defend Spray contains two distinct phases for UV filter and heat protection. When shaken together, the Dual Defend Spray provides optimal protection. DO I NEED BOTH A CONDITIONER AND REVITALIZING MASK TOGETHER? For the most damaged hair, we recommend using both the Color Repair Conditioner and Revitalizing Mask together to optimise the reparative benefits. HOW OFTEN SHOULD I USE THE MASK? It depends on the damage to your hair. The greater the damage, the more frequent the use. WHAT INGREDIENTS IN STRAIGHTENING BALM AND DUAL DEFEND SPRAY DEFEND YOUR HAIR FROM HEAT STYLING? In the Straightening Balm, there are silicones, phytantriol & 18-MEA, while the Dual Defend Spray has a unique polymer and humectants to protect hair while heat styling. TREAT DOES THE DUAL DEFEND SPRAY HAVE SPECIAL STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS? Yes, do not store spray in direct sunlight. This will reduce the efficacy of UV absorbers, which will negatively impact the UV protection the product provides. HOW DO THE ACTIVE INGREDIENTS IN THE SCALP TONIC WORK? The complex contains botanical extracts like shiso, saw palmetto, green rooibos, and licorice root. These ingredients are known to reduce scalp irritation and help strengthen fine, fragile hair for thicker, fuller-looking hair. HOW DOES THE SCALP MASSAGING TECHNIQUE HELP MAXIMISE THE BENEFITS OF THE SCALP TONIC? Massage helps stimulate blood flow to the scalp and nourish the hair follicle for thicker, fuller-looking hair. STYLE WHAT IS THE ORDER OF USE FOR THE STYLING COLLECTION? Our styling products are organised by SHAPE, HOLD, and SHINE. WILL THE STYLING PRODUCTS BUILD UP? Our testing results showed that the styling products are washed out after one shampoo, when used normally. DO I HAVE TO THROW OUT THE TEXTURING MATTE WAX IF IT DRIES OUT? No. Keep the top on the matte wax to protect the product from drying out. Use a clean object to mix the product back together. THE VALVES OF MY STYLING PRODUCTS ARE CLOGGED. WHAT SHOULD I DO? Rinse with warm water. WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I GET HAIR SPRAY IN MY EYE? Immediately flush eyes with water. If irritation or burning continues, consult your physician. MY MOUSSE CAME OUT RUNNY? SAFETY AND PRECAUTIONS WHY DO SOME PRODUCTS, DESPITE EXTENSIVE TESTING, STILL CAUSE A SKIN REACTION ON SOME? No hair care product is guaranteed to be 100% irritation-free for everyone. All SATINIQUE products are thoroughly tested for hair compatibility and safety, but there are always a small number of people sensitive to certain ingredients. Otherwise, the products are considered safe. Just as some people are allergic to pets or dust, others are allergic to common cosmetic ingredients.
