Requirements NTP Software Data Collection Agent Windows Version Requirements Each NTP Software Data Collection Agent Windows Version server must meet the following minimum requirements prior to installation: 333-MHz CPU 128-MB of RAM 20-MB of free disk space Each agent requires 20 MB for installation files and additional disk space for scan caching. The amount of disk space required for scan-caching scales depends on the amount of disk space the agent is configured to scan. NTP Software recommends reserving 500 MB of additional disk space for this scan caching. Each agent server must be running Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher. Each agent that is installed remotely must also have the Microsoft MSDE database installed. The agent will install MSDE during setup if it does not exist. Installation Prior to installing NTP Software Data Collection Agent Windows Version, we recommend verifying the following: The installation server meets the requirements listed in the Requirements section of this document. NTP Software Data Collection Agent Windows Version Installation 1. Log on to your Windows NT, XP, 2000, or 2003 computer, using an account with administrator privileges. 2. Place the NTP Software Data Collection Agent Windows Version CD into the server s CD-ROM drive. After a few moments, the Installation Wizard s start window should appear. NOTES: If the start window does not appear, start the installation manually by launching Setup.exe from your CD-ROM drive. If you downloaded an evaluation copy of NTP Software Data Collection Agent Windows Version, go to the directory in which the file was downloaded and double-click the Setup.exe file. 3. 4. Read the end user license agreement. If you agree to the terms, select I accept the terms of the license agreement and then click Next. NOTE: If you do not agree to the terms, click Cancel to exit the installation. 5. 6. Choose the destination location for the installed software. Click Next. 7. Enter a Windows user account to run the data collection agent. 8. Specify whether you will use a local or web location for the agent configuration file. If you select the Web Service option, enter the information required to access the file. This information is the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) or the IP address of the server, the name of the web service, and the name of the configuration group. Click Next. 9. Review your data collection agent configuration information in this window. Click Back to make any changes; otherwise, click Next to begin copying the files. Copyright 2003-2009 by NTP Software. 10. The Installation Wizard informs you when the components are installed. If you want to view a list of installed components, select the View the installed components document checkbox.
