4 1. Introduction This installation guide provides you with complete instructions on how to install Crystal Reports Developer 11. Also contained in this installation guide are the prerequisites and requirements together with all other essential information you will require to install this application efficiently License Requirements You will need a license for the Crystal Reports Developer 11, obtainable from either, or from Business Objects Minimum Installation Requirements Operating Systems Windows 2000 Windows XP Professional Windows 2003 Server Computer/Processor Memory Disk space Drive 133 MHz or higher Pentiumcompatible CPU At least 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM. 256 MB recommended. 4 gigabytes (GB) maximum 320 Megabytes CD-ROM or DVD drive 1.3. Administrator Rights The installation process creates a registry entry and may update some system files that require Administrator rights; therefore, Administrator privileges on the local server are required for installation. -4-

5 2. Crystal Reports Developer 11 Installation The Crystal Reports Developer 11 Installation Wizard works with Microsoft Windows Installer to guide you through the installation process. The Installation Wizard automatically recognizes your computer s operating system and updates files as required. Close all currently running programs and stop as many services as possible when installing Crystal Reports Developer 11. Installation 1. Run the Crystal Reports Developer 11 installation. The following splash screen opens: Figure 1 - Installation Splash Screen 2. Click Install Crystal Reports. The following dialog box opens: -5-

6 Figure 2 License Agreement Screen 3. Select radio button: I accept the License Agreement. Click Next. The following dialog box opens: Figure 3 Set-up Screen 4. The fields are populated by default. The Product Key Code can be found on the sticker on your Crystal Reports Developer 11 CD envelope or on your license certificate. Click Next. The following dialog box opens: -6-

7 Figure 4 Installation Type Screen 5. Typical installation (selected by default) installs the most common application features. Custom enables you to choose the features that you want installed, to specify where they will be installed, and to check the disk space required by each feature. Select Custom installation. 8 7. Hover down the list with the mouse pointer and select the second option: Entire feature will be installed on local hard drive. Click Next. Figure 6 Select Feature Installation Screen (2) 8. The selection appears on the right-hand side of the screen under Feature Description. Click Next. Figure 7 Web Update Service Option Screen -8-

9 9. Disable Web Update Service checkbox is marked by default. If you install Crystal Reports Developer 11 on a machine with an Internet connection, you can choose to disable the automatic Web Update Service feature. This feature allows you to check for updates and service packs each time you open Crystal Reports Developer 11; if you disable it now, you will not be able to activate it later. Click Next. The following dialog box opens: Figure 8 Start Installation Screen 10. Click Next. The Crystal Reports Developer 11 setup splash screen appears: -9-

11 Figure 11 Confirmation of Installation Screen 13. Deselect the checkbox: Check for product updates and click Finish. Crystal Reports Developer 11 Installation is now complete Launch Crystal Reports Developer 11 Launch Crystal Reports Developer 11 and check that there are no errors. As the Report Center is using the Crystal Reports engine, any problem with the Crystal Reports will affect the Report Center activities. -11-

12 3. Troubleshooting If the Crystal Reports center fails to open, do the following: 1. From the Start menu > Settings >Control Panel 2. From the Control Panel screen select System 3. The System Properties box opens: Select the Advanced tab -12-

13 4. In the Performance section, Select Settings: 5. The following Performance Options screen opens Select the Data Execution Prevention tab 6. If the Add button is disabled, click the radio button: Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select. Click Add. -13-

14 Figure 12 Performance Options Data Execution Tab If Crystal Reports does not appear in the Data Execution Prevention screen (see fig 13 below) Do the following: You need to find the crw32.exe file located at c:\program files\ Business Object \Crystal Reports 11- select and click OK. -14-
