This tutorial will show you how to insert the Embroidery CD into your computer and transfer the designs onto your USB stick. If your embroidery machine uses a different method (card reader or direct connect) please see your local dealer for additional instructions. General Info: If you do not have an Embroidery Software, there is no way for your computer to read embroidery designs. If you double click on a design file, nothing will happen. Only your Embroidery Machine can read these designs and show you a picture (not all machines do this either). You do not need Embroidery Software to use these designs. We have included pictures of each design in the Tutorial along with a list of Steps and Colors. Each design comes in multiple formats. Most designs come in several sizes, therefor you do not need to resize yourself. Please double check the size and make sure it is compatible with your hoops sizes.
Start by inserting the CD into your computer. Once inserted, a box will pop up and ask you what you want to do. Click on Open folder to view files **If the box does not automatically pop up, see the next page.
If a box does not automatically pop up, go to your Start Menu. Click on the Computer Tab, this shows you all of the drives on your computer. See the D Drive has the cats and dogs CD, double click on this.
Once you have selected the CD, you will have a menu of 4 folder. 1. Catalog - this is a PDF copy of the most recent catalog. **Note older collections will have older versions of the catalog. Please see our website anitagoodesignonline.com for all of our collections. 2. Design files - this is where you will file all of the designs in various formats. 3. RE-sizing instructions - this is a PDF of instructions on how to re-size the designs if you do not have software. 4. Tutorials - these are PDF instructions on various techniques. Double Click on Tutorials.
This is a list of PDF Tutorials and other information. Double Click on the Tutorials that coincides with the design collection. In this case, tutorials and colors - dogs and cats.
This PDF Tutorial will give you lots of information. Ÿ How to stitch the designs. Ÿ How to complete a variety of projects. Ÿ Samples using the different designs. Ÿ A stitched sample of each of the designs with a list of the colors we used. **Tutorials may vary with project ideas and may contain instructions from previous tutorials.
After the Tutorial Instructions, there is a Stitched Sample of each design. Look at through these samples to decide which designs you would like to sew. Jot down the name, example: MMCD1A. This will also give you list of steps and colors. You can print these pages if you want, copy the list, or keep the PDF open on your computer.
Next you need to locate the design on the CD. Do this by clicking on the Design Files folder. You will see a list of folders containing different formats. Locate the Format your machine uses and double click, in this case double click on brother-babylock - pes.
Within this folder is all of the designs in the PES format. You will NOT SEE pictures of the designs, that is why we included pictures of each design in the Tutorial. Locate the designs you want to use, in this case MMCD1. The following directions will show you how to get your design from the CD to a USB stick. If you want to use a different method, please see your local dealer.
Insert your USB stick into your computer. A box will pop up asking want you want to do, Click on Open folder to view files.
When your USB files open, you may see additional files that are on this stick. **I like to keep only the working files on a stick. This makes it easier and faster to find the design you want to use. The more files on your stick, the longer it takes your embroidery machine to load them, the longer it takes for you to find them.
This shows both boxes open on my computer. The box on the left is the files on my Cats and Dogs CD. The box on the right is the files on my USB stick. We want both boxes visible to allow us to drag and drop the file we want to use.
Click on the file you wish to use and hold the button down as you drag the files from the CD box to the USB box. Once you are inside the USB box you can let go of the mouse button. In this case MMCD1. **Notice the box it says Copy, we are copying this file, not actually removing it from the CD.
This box may appear as your computer copies the files from the CD to the USB stick. **If you do not want to Drag and Drop the file, you can always select the file then Copy and Paste it into the USB box as well.
We now have a copy of the design we want to use on the USB stick. case MMCD1. In this Repeat these steps for all the designs you wish to stitch. Remember you do not need to copy all of the design, just the ones you are working with at one time. Once you are done stitching a design, you can delete it off of your stick. There are two ways to do this: select the design, then pressing the delete button on your key of right click and select delete. You will always have the CD with the design if you wish to use it again.
