TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS The FACI boilers for the production of warm water up to + 95 C they are built with a auto drive structure in a sheet of special steel of strong thickness of high mechanical resistance with a large combustion chamber, a hatch with crawl space for the manual loading of large chunks of combustible and for periodic cleaning of the brazier. The heat exchanger of the boiler is built with pipes like the SS boiler immersed in water. The heat exchanger is subsequently connected to the openable smoke expansion chamber and can be inspected for periodic maintenance. The base of the boiler is a refractory motar covered steel plate for high temperatures and for an excellent combustion. At the centre of the base is a perforated cast iron grate that allows the passage of primary air and gives oxygen to the material during the combustion. All the FACI boilers are provided with a general electric panel for the control of the various functioning cycles. They are completely caulked with anti radiant material and totally covered with painted steel oven panels. They can be predisposed for the application of the gas or gas-oil burner. A particular attention is reserved to the finish of the boilers with the verification of all the components and testing the mechanical functioning in the respect of the CEE directives. There has been in the last years, a notable increase in the use of industrial and civil heating plants, working on scrap wood with auto feed, this increase is determined by the possibility to use the boilers with automated feeding systems and endowed with very reliable sensors allowing an automatic management of the plants with the constant control of the combustion values, and guaranteeing an operation in the respect of the laws.
BOILER ROOM AND PLANT SIZING Particular attention must be devoted to the sizing of the plant, keeping in mind that boilers unlike those to gas or gas-oil must, as far as possible, work continuously and without interruptions. Accordingly, the overloading of the boiler must be avoided in that it could have negative consequences on the same; in fact forced interruption of the combustion, owed to the brutal arrest of the flow of combustive air, produce greater smoke production inside the boiler and of the fireplace, in this way getting a lesser middle-seasonal output of the boiler with an useless increase of the functional costs. Another important aspect to be considered is the availability of space for the storage of the thermal plant combustible that has to be situated in the immediate proximities of the same plant. The boiler room has to be spacious and well ventilated. Besides the boiler, the thermal plant should be able to accommodate the inertial accumulator, the sanitary boiler, the digital panel and the whole hydraulic plant design. It is a good norm to leave a free space of at least 60cm around the boiler; altogether leave a surface of around 8-10 square meters. For the plants of 35kW, the norm foresees that they are endowed with an independent access door from the outside. For this type of plant it is necessary to deposit the thermal plant plans to the officers of the local fire brigade and to communicate to the institute for the safety of workers. The FACI wood chip boilers use automatically loaded virgin chipped wood of the dimension of a few centimetres. The combustible used can be of material from different origin, i.e. chopped pruning, wastes of chopped wood from sawmills, biomasses deriving from the wood culture activities (cut of the wood copse, thinning out, cuts of conversion, etc.). The wood chip plants other than for the civil residences are particularly suited for the heating of buildings of medium to large dimensions such as hotels, schools, condominiums, hospitals and shopping centres.
