2010.07. Truck Navigation FEATURE PRESENTATION
Overview Introduction Truck Feature set - highlights Technical information Truck Navigation features Edit Truck Profiles Route calculation option Using Waiting/Loading Time Truck POIs Driving Time monitoring Truck specific Driver Alerts Appendix: Truck Attributes
Introduction Based on available Logistics/Transport map data. Truck Navigation enables truck driver to plan routes using truck-related attributes and restrictions, along with additional features like truck POIs, drive time monitoring and more. Truck specific Driver Alerts represent a set of attributes indicating features that are used to alert drivers of certain dangerous situations or regulations.
Truck Feature set highlights Three customisable truck profiles. Set pre-defined truck dimensions and limitations (height, width, max. speed, etc.) Route calculation is based on truck parameters in the profile Drivers can minimize usage of toll/charge roads, bridges, tunnels and ferries ETA calculation is adjusted by waiting/loading time set for each destination Additional truck related POIs come with the product Driving Time monitoring (with break alert) for 1 or 2 drivers Driver Alerts are displayed on the map during guidance
Technical information Compatibility: Engine: R3, R5, R5+ UI: igo8, igo Primo Licensing: Truck feature requires application license Content: requires extra license, limited regional packages available Content storage: Stored as an independent file Content size: Navteq: + 3% of base map, may increase with better coverage TeleAtlas: to be determined Updates available on naviextras.com
Truck Navigation features Lorry (UK) / Truck (AU&US) can be selected in Route Settings among Vehicle types When selecting Lorry/Truck, the list of profiles appears When a Truck Profile is selected, and map data is available igo 8 automatically utilizes the truck attributes for route calculation
Edit Truck Profiles The following permanent and temporary truck parameters can be stored in the profiles: Dimensions (Length, Width, Height) Whether the truck has a container/trailer attached and the current number of axles Current and maximum allowed weight The Hazmat (Hazardous material) category of the freight The maximum allowed speed of the truck Reset Profile: all parameters can be reset to their default values
Edit Truck Profiles - Screenshoots
Edit Truck Profiles Each truck Profile can be edited and customised separatelly The Profiles can be renamed and saved
Route calculation option It is possible to reduce the usage of certain road types The effect is lighter than the selection in Road Types Used for Route Planning as this is just a preference
Using Waiting/Loading Time Waiting/loading time can be set for each destination when selecting the destination Waiting/loading times of intermediary destinations (via points) are added to the route duration to fine-tune ETA (estimated time of arrival) The Waiting/loading time can later be modified in route editing
Truck POI s Truck-specific Point Of Interests databases are available from map providers Extended truck-related information about POIs can be displayed, when available
Driving Time monitoring If one of the truck profiles is selected as the used vehicle, a new button appears in the Quick menu (a truck with a clock). Tap this button to open time monitoring The monitor contains countdown timers for 3 values: continuous driving, break, daily accumulated driving
Driving Time monitoring igo 8 tracks driving and rest times and warns the driver when preset daily or continuous driving times are exceeded The Timers can be reset to their initial values Monitoring can be set up to 1 or 2 drivers
Truck specific Driver Alerts In addition to the Standard alerts (regulatory, warning and informative signs) Truck specific alerts are supported: Risk of grounding Tree overhang Start of no overtaking End of no overtaking
Appendix 1 Truck Attributes Truck attributes, coming from the map data and used for route planning for Trucks are listed in the following table.
