Using styles This manual shows you the steps on how to use styles in Merlin Project. The first part of this guide explains how styles in Merlin Project work based on three practical examples. Following that, you will find an overview of all the style options available in Merlin Project. In general, styles are managed by right-clicking the object and selecting»style«from the context menu. For example, right-click a bar in a Gantt chart, a Net Plan, a column row or the Outline and edit the appropriate style options. Part I - examples Changing the color of the Gantt chart Open a new or existing project in Merlin Project. To change the color of a bar, milestone or group, right-click a bar in the Gantt chart. The context menu shown will be displayed. Now select the option Style Bars. You can choose from several options in the Styles Inspector to change the look of bars and milestones. These options are linked to conditions. If a certain condition is met, the configured color, text or other attributes are applied automatically to the bar. 2 Part I - examples
You can display other conditions by clicking the drop-down menu with the same name and selecting the option "Show all conditions". You can edit new and existing conditions by clicking the option "Edit" under the dropdown menu "Conditions". Guides for Merlin Project Styles 3

Shading individual bars Sometimes you may want to display bars in different colors. This is really easy to do by using styles combined with tags as a condition. Click any bar in the Gantt chart. The Activity Inspector will be displayed. In the Activity Inspector, click the second tab from the right. This gives you access to the user-defined settings for activities. Click Tags. You will see several pre-configured tags in the list. Create new tags for the conditions. To do this, click the + icon below the list. Name the new tag. In this example, the tag is called "Violet". You can create additional tags just by clicking the + icon. Guides for Merlin Project Styles 5
In the next step, the tag will be created as a condition for a style in the Style Inspector. Click the option Style > Bars in the context menu. In the Style Inspector, click Condition > Edit. In the Style Condition window, click the + icon to create a new condition. Following that, name the new condition such as Tag Violet. 6 Shading individual bars
You now need to configure the condition. To do this, click the magnifying glass icon and select the relevant options. In this case, for an activity with the previously created tag Violet. In the Style Inspector click Conditions > Show all conditions and select the previously created condition Tag Violet from the drop-down menu Condition. Guides for Merlin Project Styles 7
Check the Color and Background Color options in the Style Inspector so the condition has its own color and then click the relevant color bars to change the color. Choose a dark violet for the main color and a lighter shade of violet for the background color. 8 Shading individual bars
You can now check the tag Violet for one or more activities in the Inspector for the tags in the list. Guides for Merlin Project Styles 9
This shades all activities with the checked tag Violet in the color Violet with the newly created style and its condition. Uncheck the option and the shading for the condition General becomes active again.
