Things which doctors should watch and remember: - NO balance billing is allowed. - It is a network option, so you must constantly keep abreast of the DSP s and scheme rules. - There is a formulary and protocols so you must constantly stay within the provisions. Questions that the doctor must ask before you sign: - How the system works? (Who will do what and where?) (Must you call, is it online, must you complete forms by hand etc.) - Is the formulary easily accessible when the patient is in front of you? (or do you search on the website) - Is the protocols easily accessible? - Is ASAIPA or IPAF involved? (who does peer reviews and profiling, and who will negotiate with the scheme when there are problems) - Are they going to disengage you to a capitation, when you have achieved a certain amount of patients? POPI (PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION ACT 4 OF 2013 / POPI (BESKERMING VAN PERSOONLIKE INLIGTING WET VAN 2013) Certain sections of POPI (Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013) have been implemented on the 11 April 2014, according to a notice published in the Government Gazette.
We will keep you up to date as to the implications for us in private practice. The importance of this law is that personal information of our patients will be regulated. It will also impact electronic information. 5 CONNECTED CARE and ASAIPA have developed the National Sign On and other tools to help the doctor comply. We will keep you up to date! Sekere afdelings van POPI (Beskerming van Persoonlike Inligting Wet 4 van 2013) is volgens 'n kennisgewing in die Staatskoerant op 11 April 2014 geïmplementeer. Ons sal u op hoogte hou van die implikasies vir ons in privaatpraktyk. Die belangrikheid van die wet is dat persoonlike inligting van pasiënte gereguleer word. Dit sal veral op eletroniese inligitng n groot invloed hê CONNECTED CARE en ASAIPA het die National Sign On en ander inisiatiewe reeds ontwikkel om dokters hiermee te help.
