AUTOMATIC OPENER SYSTEM FOR OUTSWING RESIDENTIAL GARAGE DOORS Exclusively by:
DOORS AT THE PUSH OF A BUTTON Welcome Home The Franklin Autoswing is a sophisticated door opener system for outswing carriage garage doors. The powerful low-voltage motor opens doors up to 550lbs and is exceptionally quiet during operation. In standard outswing applications, the motors mount directly above the door; the articulating arms swing the doors to angles up to 125 degrees. Once closed, the doors are mechanically locked by the operator, even in the event of a power outage. Housed in a sleek cover, the Franklin motors needs just 7-1/2 inches of clearance above the lowest point of the door jamb. The dual door operating motors are wired into a compact control panel, and unlike ceiling-mounted openers, leave the ceiling plane free of unsightly machinery. Programmable settings One-step Autoset feature programs door to operate with minimum required torque for maximum safety Optional Autoclose feature automatically closes doors if left open Programmable delay setting allows primary leaf to open ahead of the secondary leaf Simpler Installation Coded limit switches reduce wiring complexity by using a single wire instead of two. In addition, the Franklin s control board automatically assigns open limit vs. closed limits, cutting costly installation time and preventing wiring errors. Safety Force sensors cause the Franklin to stop or stop-and-reverse if an obstruction is met, and with integral electric photoeyes, the system meets or exceeds UL 325 safety standards. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Is there a limit to how large my door can be? The Franklin will operate a single door leaf up to 10 wide and up to 550lbs. The maximum allowed surface area of a solid door is 120 square feet. Who can do my installation? The installation guide is designed to help builder/contractors install the Franklin. It is recommended that a licensed electrician that is experienced in low voltage systems do the wiring. If you are unable to locate an electrician, check your local listings for a gate and fence company that specializes in opener system installs. How long does it take to install? If attempting installation for the first time, expect to spend about 6 hours for installation. After the learning curve, each installation may take as little as 2 hours. Keep in mind that all installations are different and your time spent may vary. What if I am in a windy area? The Franklin s powerful motor works well in windy conditions. However, strong gusts and high winds may cause the unit s force limiting safety features to engage (unit will stop or stop-and-reverse). What if there is snow in front of my door? Due to the Franklin s safety features, the door will not operate properly if there is snow obstructing it. Snow must be removed before use. If new construction, consider radiant heat loops in the driveway to melt snow. What if the power goes out? Will the door be secure? Yes. The operator keeps the doors mechanically locked at all times, even during a power outage. What is the range of the remote control? Depending upon wall construction, the remote control may operate at distances up to 140 feet. With antenna installed, operational distance may be up to 350 feet. How much clearance do I need to fit the motors? The opener requires 7-1/2 of clearance from the lowest part of the door jamb to the ceiling. Will the Franklin work if my door has an arched top? The Franklin will operate most arch-top doors. See the arch-top door guide for more information. Can I use the Franklin outside? Yes. The Franklin is rated for weather exposure. Will the Franklin open an inswing door? Yes. The motor positioning is different, but the Franklin will indeed open an inswing door. What if I need one door to open before the other? (I have an astragal) Each unit is already preprogrammed with a primary to secondary door delay. Can I operate the door leaves independently? No. The motors work in tandem only. What if I have one door leaf only? (not two) A one motor unit is also available. Ask your sales representative for details. Can I use this opener for a pedestrian door? No. The Franklin is strictly rated for vehicular access only. For safety reasons pedestrians must not walk through an open garage door. What is the warranty? All parts are warrantied for 2-1/2 years from date of manufacture. 4 Copyright 2013 Real Carriage Door Company TM
