The following guide will assist you in installing the Attix5 Backup Professional Server Edition on your Admin Server. You will have received your Group Name and Group Create Key from the Schools Broadband Team. Have these details ready. You will need to download the appropriate backup client software for your system. You will need to download the Attix5 Backup Professional Windows Server Edition client and possibly the Attix5 Backup Professional Windows SE Plugin Installer. There are two versions of the main client install, one for 32bit operating systems and one for 64bit operating systems. Check with your IT support if you are unsure what you have. Note: Ensure the drives you wish to back up are using the NTFS file system as the system will not work on the older FAT32. Consult your IT support for guidance if this affects you. 1
Run the setup for the Server Edition client. You will see the box below. Click Next: Make sure Run as LocalSystem is selected. Click Next: 2
Choose where to install the program or leave the default setting. Click Next: Click Install: 3
Make sure Launch Backup Client SE is selected and click Finish: The software is now installed. The next step is to configure your backup account using the details sent to you by the Schools Broadband Team. The guide continues to explain this process on the next page. 4
Here you will need to enter the details provided to you by the Schools Broadband Team. Enter the Storage Platform Address: Enter the Group Name: Enter Group Create Key: Click Next: bsattixns1.essex.sch.local Provided by Schools Broadband Team Provided by Schools Broadband Team 5
Select I want to create a new backup account and click Next: Enter a backup username for example Server01. Choose a backup password and encryption key. These are important, if forgotten you will not be able to restore your data. Make sure they are filed safely. Click Next: 6
Select I use broadband or another permanent network connection and click Next: Select the schedule on which you want the backup to run. Click Next: 7
Select the working folders on which you want the client to use. Ensure there is enough free space on the drive where you store these folders. For example, if you want to backup 1GB of data, there must be at least 1GB of free space available on the drive where you install the Backup Client. Click Next: Click Next: 8
Confirm the summary and click Next: Click OK: 9
Select the data that you wish to back up by Right Clicking on a folder and selecting Include Folder. You can also select individual files by click the circle next to them. The folders being backed up will be highlighted in green to make it easy to see what it selected. Your backup will now save these files and folders on the schedule you set previously. You will probably want to configure the System State Plugin. This can be found under Tools > Plugins > System State Check the Enable System State Backups box. Choose a location to save the system state backup file and press OK. Make sure that the folder containing the system state is selected for backup (Green folder icon). Once you have selected all of the files you require backing up, click the Backup button to start your first backup. This may take some time! You may also wish to install the SQL server plugin if you have a SQL database that you need to be backed up. If so please follow the next guide for installing the SQL Plugin. 10
