PROGRAM IMPROVEMENTS HD420HQ Format Playback no longer fails with HD420HQ formatted clips. FAM/FTP Connections An error no longer occurs if a DVCAM clip is cancelled during execution and then an IMX clip is put via FAM/FTP. HD422 1920/50P discs can no longer be mounted. An error no longer occurs when putting an HD420 HQ 720/ 50P clip in a FAM or FTP connection. When inserting the LUB-PTPU2 data link cable made by LOGITECH Corporation in the USB port of a PC that is FAMconnected to PDW-HD1500, the disc in PDW-HD1500 is no longer formatted. Operation no longer stops in a FAM connection after putting a zip file in the USER DATA folder and trying to open the file by double-clicking. The time required to put an arbitrary file in the USER DATA folder is reduced. An error no longer occurs when putting an MXF file with DCCAM or IMX format containing many EssenceMarks. Page 1 of 5
When PDW-HD1500 is connected to the S400 and a storage device (such as a hard disk) is connected to the S800 of a PC with both i.link S400 and S800 interfaces, an error no longer occurs when a file is transferred to the storage device from PDW-HD1500 via the PC. DVCAM clips can now be put continuously in a FAM or FTP connection. If a disc with significant fragmentation is copied with PDZ-1, the file system of the copy destination no longer becomes corrupt. SDI When an MXF file with both HANC and VANC data is output from HD-SDI output, the VANC data is now output correctly. When Setup menu ITEM-731 WIDE MODE INPUT is set to ON and OUTPUT is set to AUTO, the WIDE signal (VBI or WSS) is now output from SD-SDI output after PDW-HD1500 is turned ON. Video Noise no longer appears momentarily when executing F REV in a Trim Sub Clip or Select Index Picture screen. Video degradation no longer occurs where scene changes overlap in proxy video. Output video is no longer disturbed when OUT REF of function menu P6 is set to REF, and V input is switched from HD-SDI to SD-SDI to ilink to HD-SDI. When recording a video signal with Multi Burst 10 20MHz and H Step +4Sample/frame in 1080/59.94i HD420 SP format, video quality is improved. In HD format, block noise that appears like the surface of a river is reduced. In HD format, flicker is no longer visible in the gray area of gray scale. Audio Switching audio input from CH5 to CH8 while recording is inhibited. When audio input is set from CH5 to CH8 to NON AUDIO, an input selection of CH6 and CH8 is inhibited. 9-Pin Control When playing across clips in IMX format, VITC is no longer output by one frame repeatedly and no longer becomes discontinuous from 9-pin or UPCON HD-SDI VITC output. During recording, the value obtained by sensing input LTC or TCG through 9-pin no longer becomes discontinuous at an irregular period. After the CueupWithFilename command from 9-pin control results in Cueup Complete to a CLIPLIST, CueupWithData no longer fails to cue up. Page 2 of 5
Thumbnail/DISC Menu Characters such as [<>?:] can be entered directly as a title from a USB keyboard but not entered as a clip name, even when cutting and pasting as keyboard shortcuts. When displaying a cliplist including dozens of subclips in the thumbnail screen, subsequent operations no longer fail if a clip included in the cliplist is deleted after the clip thumbnail is displayed. When the Select USB Keyboard Language menu is set to German and keys on the numeric keypad are pressed while Caps Lock is ON, the appropriate numeral is output rather than the exclamation point (!). If the maximum number of ASCII characters are entered, replacement of one of the characters with a non-ascii character is inhibited. When the language for the USB keyboard is set to Russian, the keyboard language can be toggled between Russian and English using [Shift+Alt] or [Alt+Shift]. General Operation In IMX format, TCR of VITC that is being recorded now becomes T*R and no longer advances as if being read. If a disc recorded in 1080/23.98fps is mounted, NO SUPPORT is displayed. When the item assigned to P8 (UserMENU) is changed by recalling from the MENU BANK, the BANK display on the control panel is erased. If a clip in playback position is erased, the disc is cued up to the top of the next clip or the end of the clip if it is the last clip. The process to detect abnormal current is improved to prevent an unexpected excess load to the disk when ejected. MPEG TS Board PDBK-201 i.link connections with other models (mainly EX series) are no longer disconnected when unplugging/plugging in the cable or when switching modes. Page 3 of 5
UPGRADE PROCEDURE NOTE: When upgrading from V1.1x or earlier, upgrade to V1.20 before upgrading to V1.23. (Refer to Technical Bulletin 20-2000-000.) (PDWM08-064) Recovery software is not provided with V1.23. Equipment Required When upgrading via USB memory: Package software V1.23 (Garland-pdw-hd1500-s1-ts-net4-1230.pkg) USB memory When upgrading via the XDCAM website: Package software V1.23 (Garland-pdw-hd1500-s1-ts-net4-1230.pkg) PC Network cable Software Upgrade 1. Back up menu settings before the upgrade, if necessary. NOTE: When upgrading from V1.20 to V1.23, the menu is not upgraded; therefore, the settings are retained. 2. Upgrade package software to V1.23. Refer to the appropriate section in volume 1 of the maintenance manual: USB memory: Section 1-10, Firmware Update XDCAM website: Section 3-3-1, Software Update 3. Confirm that package software is V1.23. 4. Restore menu settings, if necessary. COMPATIBILITY NOTES When using with PDW-U1, upgrade PDW-U1 XDCAM DRIVE SOFTWARE to V2.10 or higher. NOTE: If you format a DISC with PDW-HD1500 V1.2, record material on the DISC using XDCAM DRIVE SOFTWARE V2.0 and then insert the DISC in PDW-HD1500 again, UNKNOWN FS is sometimes displayed. When using with the following PDW models, upgrade the units to V1.56 or higher. PDW-510/510P, PDW-530/530P, PDW-539P PDW-1500 PDW-V1, PDW-R1, PDW-D1 PDW-F350/F355, PDW-F330/F335 PDW-F70/F75, PDW-F30, PDW-70MD/75MD NOTE: When full-salvaging a disc recorded with these models, do not perform on PDW-HD1500 V1.23. Use the following FAM DRIVERS: Windows V2.100 or higher Mac V2.2.0 or higher Page 4 of 5
OPERATION NOTES When connected with FAM mode, if a file in the USER DATA folder is edited directly using certain applications (such as Excel or Word), the file may not be saved properly. In this case, save the file on the PC first, then edit/save it. In the Mac version of the FAM driver, \PROAV\USERDATA folders cannot be seen in the normal finder operation. Specify the complete path name: Example: \Volumes\XDCAMxxxxxxxxx\PROAV\USERDATA In 720 50P/59.94P mode, frame lengths operate in pairs. An MXF file with an odd frame length cannot be recorded from the FAM/FTP I/F of PDW-HD1500; therefore, change the frame length to an even number before recording it. Not all USB keyboards are compatible; therefore, test the keyboard first. Compatibility with the following keyboards is confirmed: Comfort Curve Keyboard 2000 V1.0 by Microsoft Folding Keyboard by Matias Corporation In PDW-HD1500 V1.2 and higher, recording efficiency to an NRT Meta disc is enhanced. As a result, when a unit other than PDW-HD1500 receives a disc on which CLIP/CLIPLIST is recorded with PDW-HD1500 using the DISC COPY function of the PDZ-1, COPY cannot be completed. In this case, use PDW-HD1500 as a receiver and perform DISC COPY. Page 5 of 5
