SEMINAR ON GUI AND 3D ANIMATIONS IN MATLAB Presenters: Dr. Mujtaba Hussain Jaffery Mr. Subhan Khan Venue: Friday, December 13, 2013 at 10:30 AM Seminar Room, A Block, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Lahore 66 P age

IEEE CIIT Lahore Student Branch organized a seminar named as GUI and 3D Animation in MATLAB by Mr. Subhan Khan (Lab Engineer, Electrical Engineering Department) under the supervision of Control Automation and Power Engineering (CAPE) research group at Electrical Engineering Department held on 13 th of December 2013 in Seminar room, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Lahore campus. The main theme of organizing such training is to facilitate and enhance the simulation skills of researchers/ students in their research and projects. The students as well as the faculty staff of Electrical Engineering department was invited to attend the Seminar. After the Recitation by Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Asif the Seminar formally started by the introduction of Mr. Subhan Khan presented by Mr. Asad. 67 P age

Mr. Subhan gave the introduction of MATLAB/Simulink that is a high level language which provides an interactive environment for numerical computation, visualization and programming. After that briefly discussed about GUIs (Graphical User Interface) that it provides point and click control of software applications (apps), eliminating the need to learn a language or type commands in order to run the application. The Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) is the language used to display threedimensional objects with a VRML viewer. The complexity in the Simulink model is reduced if a user interface in the form of a GUI is available. Both GUI and VRML are useful in research as it is easier to understand any system with its 3D animations and control through GUI. Since most of the projects in Electrical Engineering Department are based on MATLAB, therefore, it is a good opportunity for students/researchers to learn GUI and VRML in MATLAB. Presentation is divided into two parts. 1) GUI (Graphical User Interface) in MATLAB/Simulink 2) VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) in MATLAB/SIMULINK 68 P age

Discussed about the MATLAB GUI control objects. After that show how to model and then interface VRML in MATLAB. 69 P age

Lastly he made one 3D model on MATLAB GUI and through VRML showed how the objects perform by presenting one complete model at the end. 70 P age

In the end, special note of thanks on behalf of IEEE CIIT Lahore branch to the Guests who gave moments of their precisions time. Dr. Mujtaba Jaffery (CAPE Head) Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Asif Dr. Tariq Humayun Dr. Irfan And the other faculty Mr. Ameer Hamza Mr. Muhktar Khalid Mr. Ahsan Khalid Ghori On the whole IEEE CIIT Lahore branch members insure the quality of society and managed a very well organized healthy competition among the students that was praised very well by the guests. 71 P age
