Cool Smart Board Tricks and Tools Dual Page Display and Pinning You can easily toggle between dual and single page display with the dual page button on the toolbar. When in Dual Page mode you can pin one page. The pinned page will stay and you can change the other page with the arrows or slide sorter. Changing Writing to Text 1 After writing a word using the markers, select the object. Click on the down arrow in the top right hand corner. The top element of the drop down menu allows you to choose the text that best describes your writing. Infinite Cloner The Infinite Cloner tool in SMART Notebook Software allows SMART Board users to create multiple and endless copies of an object which can save a lot of time. 1 To use the Infinite Cloner tool, select an object, press on the drop down menu in the top right hand corner of the selection box and then press on Infinite Cloner.

2 Then click on the object and drag to create multiple copies of the object. Use the Infinite Cloner for: Graphing Making Words Math Problems etc. Magic Pen The magic pen can be used for a variety of functions as outlined below: 1. Click on the magic pen icon and draw a free form shape, letters or words and whatever you draw will fade out and disappear as it is viewed. 2. If you draw a circular shape, it will create a clear circle and blacken out the rest of the background. This can be good for highlighting specific information. The clear circle can be moved to highlight other parts of the slide (see diagrams below). Note how the circle has been moved to highlight other information 3. If you draw a rectangle with the magic pen, it creates a rectangular magnifying glass that will magnify the information over which the rectangle is moved. Moving the rectangle will magnify other information as shown in the 2 diagrams below.

Dragging the rectangle to a different location magnifies other information. * Smart Notebook software has a separate spotlight tool and a magnifying glass tool. However, the magic pen brings up these valuable functions instantaneously which is a timesaver. The Smart Capture Toolbar This feature will automatically capture an image of the entire screen or sections of the screen. The Smart Notebook software automatically opens with the captured image as a slide. If the Smart Notebook software is already open, it will add a new slide with the captured image. Then you can use the markers to annotate this screen shot. You may access the Smart Capture Toolbar in 2 ways 1. Click on the small blue icon on the system tray and select Other Smart Tools and then Screen Capture Toolbar 2. You can add the Screen Capture Toolbar to the Smart Floating Toolbar for easy access (See Customizing the Smart Floating Tools Toolbar on page 2) The Smart Capture Toolbar has options for capturing the screen A full screen capture a rectangular section of the screen a section of the screen outlined by you http://www.longwood.k12.ny.us/guides/smart_notebook10_new.pdf

How to create a Reset Button A simple way to create a Reset Button to reset the page and activity, using the Page Recorder feature. Step 1: Create your Notebook Page with an activity that your students will work on. Step 2: After you create the student activity page, go to Page Recording Step 3: Make sure you have Page Recording selected, then push Start Recording and record for 1 second. Step 4: Once you click Stop Recording, A Play/Pause/Stop button will automatically appear at the bottom of your slide. Students are ready to do their activity and manipulate the page as they want to. Simply click on the play button to reset the objects on the page to its original positions.

Linking You can link an object to a website, another Notebook page, a file on your computer or a file, such as a video clip or other multimedia element, residing in the Attachments tab. Select Link from an object s drop-down menu, and choose the type of link you would like to add to your object from the Insert Link dialog box. Highlighter When you want to call attention to a particular phrase, use the Highlighter button on the Floating Tools toolbar. Just like a conventional highlighter pen, it emphasizes the underlying image without overwriting it. 1 Press on the Floating Tools toolbar and drag your finger over something you would like to emphasize. 2 Press on the Floating Tools toolbar to turn off other tools and return to the left-click cursor. 3 Press once on the interactive whiteboard to clear your annotations.
