Version: 4.60 (MSL2024), 6.90 (MSL4048), 9.30 (MSL8096) Description This release includes updated firmware for the HP StorageWorks MSL2024, MSL4048, and MSL8096 Tape Libraries. The firmware can be updated through any of the following methods: Remote management interface (RMI). Operator control panel (OCP) using a USB flash drive. HP Library and Tape Tools (L&TT). Library firmware version 4.60 (MSL2024), 6.90 (MSL4048), 9.30 (MSL8096) Compatible robotics firmware version 2.70e Update recommendation Recommended Supersedes All previous versions of firmware. Product models All HP StorageWorks MSL2024, MSL4048, and MSL8096 Tape Libraries Languages English (American) English (International) Enhancements MSL encryption tokens (AN4095A), which were incorrectly manufactured with non-released firmware, are now detected. When a token that was manufactured incorrectly is inserted into the USB port and the configuration of the status page is accessed by the RMI, a warning message is displayed on the RMI and OCP, and a warning condition is logged as 0xE7 - "Incorrect Key Server Token type". This release will protect customers currently using the incorrectly manufactured tokens from damaging the device. A Customer Bulletin is available instructing the customer on how to obtain replacement tokens and properly transfer their keys to the new token. Fixes Fixed a case where the master Library in an extended library configuration appeared to stop communication with the lower Library. In this case, no errors are displayed in log files, the RMI, or the OCP, yet when attempting to power off the master Library, the following warning message is displayed on the OCP: Info Lower Library: Unit is Busy. SNMP Version 2 traps now work correctly for all community names. SNMP Version 3 was offered in the configuration pull down menu, but SNMPv3 is not supported. The SNMP Version 3 option has been removed from the menu. HP StorageWorks MSL2024, MSL4048, and MSL8096 Tape Libraries firmware release notes 3
Fixed a case where there was a loss of communication between the master Library and lower Library while downloading firmware with L&TT simultaneously into two or three half-height tape drives that are located in the lower Library of an extended library configuration. Error code BA 00 is issued by the extended library and a full power cycle is required to recover the extended library configuration. The firmware download to the drives completed without errors. Compatibility note When using firmware version 4.40 (MSL2024), 6.70 (MSL4048), 9.10 (MSL8096) or newer revisions with the Encryption Kit, any key server tokens set with an odd number of characters for the PIN will not be totally backwards compatible in Autoloaders or Libraries with code revisions 2.10, 4.00, 6.30, or 8.70. In those cases, a token in an Autoloader or Library with 2.10, 4.00, 6.30, or 8.70 firmware revisions will be able to accept the PIN for the token and access keys on the token, but the user will not be able to change the PIN on the token, save the keys to a file, or restore the keys from a file until the Autoloader or Library firmware is upgraded. Users should always upgrade to the latest version of firmware to ensure complete compatibility. Installation instructions To upgrade firmware from the RMI: 1.
