Prerequisites Prior to installing the ECKey Installer or Admin App, confirm you have the following: Smarthphone with Bluetooth radio, running the Android OS v2.3 (Gingerbread) through v4.2 ( Jelly Bean) EK7 reader, with firmware v4.2.0, installed and powered (see the Proximity Reader & Access Control System Install Guide at http://www.eckey.com/productsupport/documentsanddownloads) (Optional) Upgrade code for Installer App provided by dealer 2. Basics of the ECKey Installer and Admin App a. Installing and Unlocking the App Download the ECKey Manager App by searching the Google Play Store for ECKey or following this link on your Android device: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eckey.android.sync1&feature=search_result#?t=w25 1bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5lY2tleS5hbmRyb2lkLnN5bmMxIl0. Launch the installer program and follow the prompts to complete the app installation. Launch the ECKey Manager app. (Optional) You can use the Admin App as-is, or you can unlock additional features in the Installer App version by tapping the Android Menu button and selecting Upgrade. Enter the unlock code that was provided by your dealer and tap Enter. The Installer App is now ready to use. Proceed to Connecting to an ECKey Reader section. 1

Note: Profile will show as Modified when small changes have been made to the profile, and Custom when major changes are made or no profile is being used. c. Android Menu Button Tap the Android Menu button on your device from any page of the app to access additional options. Select Upgrade to enter your unlock code for the Installer App version. Select About for information about the app, and links to FAQs and Tech Support. Select Get All Settings to update the app with current settings from reader. Select Help to display embedded help files relevant to the page you re currently viewing. 3. Connecting to an ECKey Reader a. Press and hold the admin button on the ECKey reader until the status light flashes blue and red. Release button. b. Press and hold the admin button for a second time until the status light turns to solid yellow. Release button. c. Launch the ECKey Installer or Admin App on your phone and tap Find. Located readers will be displayed under the Found Devices section, or you can select a previously located reader from Saved Devices. 2
3. Connecting to an ECKey Reader (cont d) d. Select the appropriate reader and enter the management PIN when prompted (default is 12345678 ). 4. Configuring the ECKey Reader Settings are not saved to the reader until you tap the Apply button located on each page. Note: Features listed below with an asterisk (*) are only available in the Installer App. Profiles* A Profile is a group of pre-defined settings that are optimized for specific scenarios. Utilizing Profiles is a quick and easy way to change the most common ECKey settings at one time. Additional profiles and settings are accessible through the ECKey Management Application. a. List of Profiles* The List of Profiles section displays all profiles available for use with the ECKey Installer App. Tapping on a row will select that profile and display the corresponding settings below. Once a new profile has been selected, tap the Apply button to save these changes to the ECKey reader. Tapping the back button will not save any changes. b. Profile Settings* The Profile Settings section displays the details for the profile selected in the section above. Be aware that these settings are not necessarily the active settings on the reader. The settings displayed here will not be saved to the reader until you tap the Apply button. 3
Relay a. Relay Time* Defines the open and close pulse durations. b. Minimum Delay* Defines the time a reader will ignore phones, or the time between open and close pulse. c. Relay Mode* Sets the reader to generate a single (open) or double (open/close) pulse when triggered. d. Buzzer Defines the buzzer behavior when reader is triggered. i. Beep Momentary buzz when triggered ii. On Buzzer on for duration of trigger iii. Off No buzzer when triggered Security 4
Security (cont d) a. Read Range* The approximate distance from the reader that unpaired phones must be within to trigger. The Range for paired phones is set to approximately the distance they were paired at and is not affected by this setting. i. A value of 35 will require a very strong signal to trigger the reader (phone very close to reader), whereas a value a 100 will require a much weaker signal to trigger (phone can be a greater distance from reader). b. Manager PIN PIN used by Manager for ECKey administrative tasks. Most often used when connecting from Installer App or laptop to make settings changes. c. User PIN PIN used by User for pairing and triggering the reader. d. User Identification* Defines which phones will trigger the reader. i. Any discoverable phone All Bluetooth discoverable phones will trigger reader, including non-paired phones (requiring a PIN to trigger reader will increase security). ii. Paired, discoverable phone Only phones that have already paired with the reader will trigger the reader e. Relay Trigger* Determines how the reader will be triggered. i. Range Triggered when a valid phone comes within the Read Range (hands-free). ii. PIN Triggered when a user is within range AND enters the correct PIN. iii. Sensor Triggered when the phone is within range AND an external sensor (push button, motion detector, loop detector, etc) has been recently activated. Schedule 5
Schedule (cont d) a. Enable User Access Schedule When this is set to Yes, the schedule below becomes available. This Schedule defines when reader changes between Day and Night modes. Night mode will require a PIN to trigger the reader regardless of Day settings. Additional settings are available using the PC Management App. Users a. List of Users Table This table shows all users that have paired with the reader. i. Phone Name Name of paired phone. ii. Last Seen Last time and date this phone interacted with the reader. iii. Blacklisted When a user is blacklisted, he cannot trigger the reader. This is an easy way of temporarily denying access. iv. Manager When checked, this will set the user to be defined as a Manager (as opposed to simply User). Managers and Users can have unique trigger options when the reader is configured through the PC Management Application. 6
b. Advanced* Checking the Advanced box will display additional details about users: i. Hidden Hidden phones can trigger the reader whenever Bluetooth is on, even if not discoverable. Up to two phones may be set as Hidden simultaneously. ii. iii. iv. Address Bluetooth address of phone. Range The Bluetooth signal strength of this phone required to trigger the reader. This is automatically set during the pairing process. This value ranges from 0 to 100; 0 being the strongest signal (and presumably very close to the reader). PIN PIN for this user. c. Delete User Select the radio button beside the appropriate user in the table and tap Delete User. This will remove him from the reader s User List. The phone will need to re-pair before triggering the reader again. d. Rename a User Tap the name you wish to change. A dialog box will appear and you can enter up to 8 alphanumeric characters. When done choose OK to rename or Cancel. Audit Trail a. Audit Trail Table Displays information about past events on the reader, up to 1000 events. Tapping on any of the table headers will sort all events by the selected field. i. Time Date and time of event. ii. Phone Name If event is related to a user, the phone name will be displayed here. iii. Event Detail Information about the event. iv. Address Bluetooth address of the associated phone. 7
b. Email, Clear Audit Trail Allows you to email the audit trail directly from your phone, email and then clear the events, or simply clear the audit trail. Clearing the audit trail is permanent and cleared events cannot be recovered. Device Info This section displays basic information about the connected reader such as 48-bit Bluetooth address, reader model, firmware version, serial number and current date/time on reader. a. Get Clock Retrieves the current time from the ECKey reader. b. Set Clock Sets the ECKey reader's clock to match your phone's time. c.
