PYROVITRO FIRE-RESISTANT GLASS

Dunamenti Group The first Dunamenti company was founded in 1981 with the aim of manufacturing and installing passive fire protection materials. Thanks to continuous expansion, product development, acquisitions and the establishment of new businesses, the Dunamenti Group has evolved into a company that is the biggest in Hungary and one of the most influential ones in Central and Eastern Europe in the manufacturing of fire protection materials and products, and the supply of fire protection services. Our products satisfy all kinds of demands, ranging from fire protection through safety technology, environment protection and energy efficiency to aesthetics. Dunamenti AKA Kft. was established in 2006 to develop and produce steel doors and windows that have various technical parameters (fire retention, acoustics, radiation protection, and safety). Owing to years of development, STEELMAN steel doors now offer a solution to any needs you may have. In 2011 we added the production of PYROVITRO fire-resistant glass to our scope of activities. Fire-resistant glass in general Architectures and interior designers increasingly use larger glass surfaces and glass doors to improve aesthetics, safety and comfort in buildings. In many cases glasses must have fire-resistance functions as well to ensure safe evacuation and safeguarding. Based on their production technology EL type fire-resistant glasses have two main categories: The licence is for an effective manufacturing technology developed in Western Europe a few years ago which allows for the production of long life fire-resistant glasses of reliable quality with a favourable value for money evaluation. PYROVITRO gel (interlayer) fire-resistant glasses have successfully passed trials under standard EN 14449:2005 and meet the requirements of CE marking. 1 laminated fire-resistant glasses consisting of several layers of slim float glass with transparent fire resistant gel in between the layers 2 gel (or interlayer) glasses consisting of two (at certain producers three or four) glass panes and a transparent fireresistant gel layer in between. 1 2 Drawing on the stable professional and financial background of Dunamenti Group the Dunamenti AKA Kft. launched the production of PYROVITRO gel (interlayer) fire-resistant glass in Hungary according to the manufacturing licence acquired. Categories of fire-resistant glass structures. Fire testing process Standard EN 13501-2 lays down the functional requirements applicable for fire-resistant glasses and provides for the minimum periods of fire-resistance expressed in minutes. The following classes are defined accordingly: Examples for Marking : E30: the glass meets the integrity requirement for 30 minutes EI90: the glass meets the integrity and insulation requirements for 90 minutes E Integrity Requirement the glass functions as a physical barrier against flame, smoke, and hot gases without collapsing E EW EI EW Radiation Requirement the glass functions as a physical barrier against flame, smoke, and hot gases without collapsing and decreases heat radiation EI Insulation Requirement the glass functions as a physical barrier against flame, smoke, and hot gases without collapsing, decreases surface temperature and prevents spontaneous ignition on the protected side We continuously test and trial our products fitted in market leader steel, aluminium and wooden frame structures of different sizes. As a result we manufacture glasses belonging to class EW (meeting integrity and radiation criteria) and class EI (meeting integrity and insulation criteria) both groups with fire-resistance of 30 to 120 minutes. Testing fire-resistance limits: For the purposes of the fire test the fire-resistant frame is mounted in front of a furnace. The temperature of the furnace is increased according to the Time/Temperature Curve provided for in the standard. The frame should meet two requirements during the time of the test procedure (30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes): Increase in temperature (K) 1200 1000 800 600 400 INCREASE OF TEMPERATURE IN THE FURNACE Average in furnace (K) Standard (K) 200 - Limit (K) + Limit (K) Time (h:min) 0 0:00 0:05 0:10 0:15 0:20 0:25 0:30 0:35 0:40 0:45 0:50 0:55 1:00 1:05 1:10 1:15 1:20 1:25 1:30 1:35 1:40 Integrity (to be evaluated visually): there is no structural collapse or lasting flame on the protected side (the cotton pillow does not glow or burn) and it is not possible to enter the cracks with the measuring instrument. Insulation: The increase in the temperature of the measuring points marked out on the protected side of the glass surface according to the standard may not exceed 180 C compared to ambient temperature, and the average increase of the temperatures measured at such points cannot be more than 140 C. 4 PYROV P Y R O VITROV I T R O

PYROVITRO fire-resistant glass Joinability with different fire-resistant profiles, fire-resistant doors, and fire-resistant building elements ensures the wide-scale use of PYROVITRO glasses. Other functions such as outdoor usage, sound insulation, structural solutions, or walkable surfaces can be satisfied by combining PYROVITRO glasses with other glass structures or supplements. combination with special glasses (e.g. Low-E, bulletproof, patterned, painted) widens the range of applicability regular, rectangular, or other shape designs allows for half-structural fitting suitable for overhead fitting (in compliance with TRAV regulations) combined with other glasses it can be used as X-Ray glass General characteristics: fire-resistant glasses meet integrity as well as insulation criteria clear glasses ensure high transparency free of distortion the use of VSG and ESG bordering glass panes facilitates compliance with different safety requirements UV stability symmetric structure excellent acoustic features production size is approximately 300-3000mm (it varies according to the pane size requirements by different standards) suitable for temperature ranges from -20 till +45ºC also suitable for outdoors as double thermal insulation can be mounted both vertically and horizontally (as glass surface or walking surface) Applicable for: doors, windows, fixed glass walls, curtain walls; offices, hotels, cultural and educational institutions, healthcare institutions, industrial and logistic facilities. PYROVITRO EI30, 60, 90 fire-resistant glazing In terms of their structure, PYROVITRO fire-resistant glass types belong to the category of gel-filled (interlayer) glass. The glass structures consist of two bordering (VSG or ESG) glass panes and a transparent fire-resistant gel layer in between. In case of fire, the gel (interlayer) starts foaming at around 120 degree Celsius, and transforms into a rigid opaque sheet inhibiting the transmission of fire, smoke and gases to the unexposed side while ensuring complete thermal insulation (EI). 6 PYROV P Y R O VITROV I T R O

Glazing instructions Fire-resistant glasses shall only meet the descriptions provided for in the standards if they are mounted in the fire-resistant frame structures with the required assembly aids. Glazing Instructions (always mandatory): Fire-resistant glasses create an integrated system together with all the assembly aids PYROVITRO fire-resistant glasses can only be installed in places where the temperature does not exceed +50ºC. When installed outdoor appropriate thermal protection should be provided for the fire-resistant glasses (thermal insulation layer, Low-E coating, etc.) Fire-resistant glasses can only be installed if there is a valid certification available Avoid glass and metal contact Glass plane edges and fire tapes must be intact The inside area of the frame must be dry and accessible Use a hardwood or equivalent aid to buttress fire-resistant glasses Minimum groove size for mounting is 20 mm The gap between the edges of the glass panes and the frame cannot be less than 4-5 mm Use fire-retardant foam tapes in the gaps between the glass panes and the frame To fix the glasses use non-combustible ceramic tapes or silicon seals The quality and fire-protection performance of PYROVITRO glass are ensured by permanent supervision during manufacturing. We continuously examine the presence of any smaller penetration or bubbles in the special fire-resistant gel layer as well as any distortion or blurring. Such phenomena cannot be considered faults if they do not influence transparency and fire resistance. Larger bubbles may also occur at the edges of the glass panes, however, when the panes are mounted the frame covers them.
