Dear supporter, Thank you for your interest in fundraising for the Society for Abandoned Animals. You might have heard it before, but every little really does help. It s thanks to people like you that we can continue to rescue and rehome the animals in our care. In these pages you ll find lots of ideas about ways you can fundraise for us, and have fun! We can supply you with sponsorship forms, tshirts, collection tins and stickers. We ll promote your efforts on Twitter and Facebook, and link to your JustGiving page (if you use one). If you need any advice, or have any questions, don t hesitate to drop in or give us a call. And thank you! Thank you!

Did you know? The Society for Abandoned Animals was established in 1966 by Peggy Henderson, to deal with the large numbers of animals displaced by the housing clearance in Hulme, Manchester. Peggy sadly passed away in 2005, but the charity continues to follow Peggy s example of care and compassion to all animals. The SAA houses and rehomes unwanted cats, dogs and rabbits. All our animals are vaccinated, neutered and micro-chipped. We never put a healthy animal down. In 2013 we rehomed: 317 cats 42 rabbits 20 dogs That s more than one animal every day! It costs the charity 170,000 per year to remain open. Our vets bills alone amount to 3,000 per month. That s why your fundraising efforts can make such a difference. 60 will vaccinate and neuter a rabbit 150 will buy 100 microchips 250 will feed a cat for six months

Ideas to get you started Our supporters Mrs Edna Hilton and Mrs Marjorie Millar raised 410 by facing their fear of heights, and taking a ride in a hot air balloon! A number of our supporters participated in the annual Great Manchester Run, a 10k course through the streets of Manchester. They raised an incredible 2,000! Erica and her horse Robbie dressed as Santa and Rudolph, and went out to Altrincham Pets at Home with a collection tin to raise funds for the SAA. Thanks to their efforts, they raised 271! Supporter Kate Dines used her spare time to bake these delicious cakes for the SAA, and organised a cake sale at school. She raised a wonderful 60!

We can provide you with Gift Aid forms (all our sponsorship forms include Gift Aid details). Challenge Events Want to do a sporting event but not sure which one? Would you like to go further afield; climb Ben Nevis or walk the Great Wall? At www.doitforcharity.com you can choose from a range of activities, organised by a specialist events company sign-up, pick the SAA as your charity, and you re ready to go! Advertising Don t forget to advertise your event! Posters, leaflets, emails We will help you by promoting your event on our Facebook site and through Twitter. Don t forget There are some rules about fundraising which are important to remember, particularly if you are in a public place or are organising a big event. If you have any questions, it s always better to ask - contact fundraiser@saarescue.co.uk for more info.

Little ways to help Fundraising doesn t have to be a one-off event; there are lots of ways to fundraise which are ongoing and don t take much effort! www.easyfundraising.org.uk is a website which allows you to shop online and raise money for the SAA at the same time, at no extra cost to yourself. www.ploink.co.uk is like having an online piggy bank. Just signup and start donating as little or as much as you would like; every penny counts! Promote the SAA to your friends and family. Invite your friends to our fundraising events; print out one of our posters to put up at school or in the office; ask your colleagues if they have any unwanted items we can use for raffle prizes. Don t forget Facebook and Twitter! Like our pages, share them with friends, retweet our campaigns. By sharing our message, you re raising our profile, and helping us gain new supporters which in turn helps the animals in our care! Thank you!
