TROUBLESHOOTING ISSUE The device seems to have frozen and isn t reacting when any buttons are pressed. When playing back my video, I can hear audio, but have no video. My video playback is choppy or stuttering. SOLUTION This usually occurs if the device receives too many commands in too short a time. To reset the device, insert a pin into the reset hole and hold for 2 3 sec This most often occurs if your computer s media player is having trouble with your files. Try using VLC player, which can be downloaded for free at http://www.videolan.org. If this is occurring, try copying the video files to your PC. This happens when the file is too large to be played back using your USB connection. If that does not help please format the drive of the Pen. OPERATION CHARGING THE INTERNAL BATTERY IMPORTANT: Charge the internal battery before first use. 1. Turn off Video Pen. 2. Unscrew the pen to reveal the USB. 3. Plug the USB into your computer s USB 2.0 port. 4. While the battery is charging, the WORKING STATUS LED will blink yellow. 5. When charging is complete (4 hours), the light will remain solid. 6. Remove the USB from your computer promptly. IMPORTANT: Do not overcharge the battery. Battery should be completely charged in 4 hours. Do not leave the unit plugged into your computer s USB port for more than 6 hours. 11 4
VIDEO RECORDING 1. Place the Video Pen where it will get a clear view and audio of what you want to record. 2. Move the MODE switch to the 2nd position (all the way to the left). 3. While in video Standby Mode, the LED indicator will be yellow. 4. Press the RECORD ON/OFF BUTTON on the top of the pen, the LED light will blink blue 2 times to start recording video, and the light is off during recording. 5. Press the RECORD ON/OFF BUTTON again to save your current file and stop recording, the yellow LED will be ON. (The devices will automatically start recording after shutting the pen off and turning it on.) PHOTO TAKING 1. Move the MODE switch to the 1st position. 2. Turn the unit ON and the unit will automatically start recording audio after booting up. 3. Press the RECORD ON/OFF BUTTON once to stop recording audio; the yellow LED will be solid. 4. To take a photo, press the RECORD ON/OFF BUTTON, the LED will blink blue to indicate it is capturing and storing photo, and will return to solid yellow. AUDIO RECORDING 1. RESETTING THE VIDEO PEN The Video Pen needs time to process its function every time you press the RECORD ON/OFF BUTTON. 1. If you have waited longer than 10 seconds after pressing the RECORD ON/OFF BUTTON and nothing happens, your Video Pen either needs to be recharged or reset. 2. To recharge the Video Pen, see the instructions on page 4. 3. To reset the Video Pen, press the RESET button with a thin, pointed object. REPLACING THE INK CARTRIDGE 1. Unscrew the pen to reveal the USB. 2. In the other half of the pen body, locate the ink cartridge. 3. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, twist the ink cartridge to the left to loosen (see example below), and tap gently to get the spent cartridge out. 4. Replace with a full ink cartridge and tighten with the screwdriver by turning it to the right. 5. DO NOT over tighten. 3. While recording, the LED will slowly blink yellow 2 times and turn off during recording. 4. To stop recording and save the file, press and hold until the pen shuts off. 5. To start recording again, press and hold the RECORD ON/OFF BUTTON to turn it ON and the pen will start automatically recording. REVIEWING FILES ON A COMPUTER 1. To view files on a computer, simply connect the device via the supplied USB cord by inserting the device directly into a USB port. Make sure the device is powered OFF. 2. It will connect as a removable drive, depending on the settings on your PC, it may automatically notify you new hardware has be detected. 3. Open folder to view files. 4. If nothing is happening when the device is plugged in, please check if USB is properly connected or connected backward. 5. If it is not automatically detected, click START on your desktop. Select My Computer if you are using Windows, or Computer if using Windows Vista or Windows 7. 6. The device should be listed as a Removable Disk under the Devices with Removable Storage section. Open the drive to playback the videos,audios, pictures seperately. 7. It is suggested to use VLC Player to play back video files in Mac. 9 6

Simply create a.txt file on your computer and name it time. 2. To turn the time and date stamp off, enter N instead of Y. 3. Once you've created the file, connect the device to your computer via USB and save the.txt file to the device's root directory. 4.
