TROUBLESHOOTING ISSUE The device seems to have frozen and isn t reacting when any buttons are pressed. When playing back my video, I can hear audio, but have no video. My video playback is choppy or stuttering. SOLUTION This usually occurs if the device receives too many commands in too short a time. To reset the device, insert a pin into the reset hole and hold for 2 3 sec This most often occurs if your computer s media player is having trouble with your files. Try using VLC player, which can be downloaded for free at http://www.videolan.org. If this is occurring, try copying the video files to your PC. This happens when the file is too large to be played back using your USB connection. If that does not help please format the drive of the Pen. OPERATION CHARGING THE INTERNAL BATTERY IMPORTANT: Charge the internal battery before first use. 1. Turn off Video Pen. 2. Unscrew the pen to reveal the USB. 3. Plug the USB into your computer s USB 2.0 port. 4. While the battery is charging, the WORKING STATUS LED will blink yellow. 5. When charging is complete (4 hours), the light will remain solid. 6. Remove the USB from your computer promptly. IMPORTANT: Do not overcharge the battery. Battery should be completely charged in 4 hours. Do not leave the unit plugged into your computer s USB port for more than 6 hours. 11 4

RESETTING THE VIDEO PEN The Video Pen needs time to process its function every time you press the RECORD ON/OFF BUTTON. 1. To recharge the Video Pen, see the instructions on page 4. 3. To reset the Video Pen, press the RESET button with a thin, pointed object. REPLACING THE INK CARTRIDGE 1. Unscrew the pen to reveal the USB. 2. In the other half of the pen body, locate the ink cartridge. 3. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, twist the ink cartridge to the left to loosen (see example below), and tap gently to get the spent cartridge out. 4. Replace with a full ink cartridge and tighten with the screwdriver by turning it to the right. 5. DO NOT over tighten. 3. While recording, the LED will slowly blink yellow 2 times and turn off during recording. 4. To stop recording and save the file, press and hold until the pen shuts off. 5. To start recording again, press and hold the RECORD ON/OFF BUTTON to turn it ON and the pen will start automatically recording. REVIEWING FILES ON A COMPUTER 1.
