GLAC 2014 International Astronautical Federation And Why? Space technology provides a wide range of services to human society all over the world. These range from telecommunications and Radio and TV broadcasting to global positioning, from search and rescue alerts to meteorological observations, from environment monitoring and resources mapping to support to the management of disaster situations. The rapid development of satellite based applications over the last 30 years is the foundation of a wider interest for space activities worldwide, particularly in developing countries. It is the basis for a new industry, the "space services" industry, which gradually has overpassed the size of the space manufacturing industry. Connecting Space People 29

GLAC 2014 GLAC will focus on the benefits of Space Applications for emerging economies, climate change and disaster management, all topics of paramount importance for both governments and scientists in the Asia Pacific region. 30
