Chapter 2- Regular and Irregular Plural Nouns Most of the time, you add s to a word to make it mean more than one (plural). For example, you add s to ghost to make ghosts. If a word ends with ch, sh, x, or s, you add es to make it plural. For example, you add es to bunch to make bunches. If a word ends with a consonant and -y, you change the -y to -i and add es. For example, the word baby becomes babies. These are called regular plurals. Sometimes, when you make a word mean more than one you have to change the word. These are called irregular plurals.
