Cheerleading Code of Conduct A. Attitudes All cheerleaders are supposed to be supportive. Personal conflicts between squad members will be handled privately with coach supervision. No one will degrade or criticize another squad member or the coach. Negative responses, lack of productivity, and disrespect will not be tolerated. B. Calling off for practice or a game Calling off practice is the responsibility of the athlete. If you are going to be late or miss a game or practice, call me and let me know. DO NOT tell a cheerleader to tell me. If you re sick, bring a doctor s note. *I do not want a note from a parent. If you leave school early due to illness, please have a parent contact me immediately. You must leave a message on my phone before the practice or a game for it to be excused. -Failure to this will result in 2 credits. *See the credit system. If your absence from school is excused and we have a game or a practice that day, your absence will also be excused from my practice. ALL practices and games are mandatory! C. Getting Picked up for games or practices 15 minutes after a home game or practice ends 15 minutes after the bus arrives from an away game (your cheerleader will call when we are about 30minutes away from the school depending on how far some of you live)
D. Jewelry NONE!!!! MUST BE OFF BEFORE ENTERING THE PRACTICE OR GAME AREA!! E. Nails Short/No artificial Clear nail polish only F. Make-up Light foundation Keep it natural G. Misc NO GUM NO GLITTER NO STICKERS NO HARD HAIR ACCESSORIES CELL PHONES on silent unless emergency Any cheerleader who accumulates 4 internal/external suspensions will be dismissed from the squad. Vacations Please be aware that cheerleading is a TEAM effort and requires all members to be present. If a vacation is planned, the coach must be notified at least two weeks in advance for it to be an excused absence.
I. Bus Trips Everyone is expected to be 15min. early for away games. If you miss the bus, it is your responsibility to get to the game. Cheerleaders will sit together at the front of the bus. Bus rules will apply as per driver. If someone will not be riding the bus home from an away game, the coach will need a signed note from your parent stating the date, name of person your will be leaving with, and their signature. J. Captains Responsibilities o Run conditioning during practices o Call cheers/chants o Teach squad the cheers/chants/dance routine o Provide support to new squad members o Organize squad during games K. Bad Weather If school is cancelled, there is no practice or home game. The coach will notify you if an away game will still be held. Cheerleaders are expected to attend any rescheduled games due to cancellation. L. Games I make the final decision on if you will wear your body suits, cheer sweatshirt, black stretch pants. When your huggies are worn, you will not wear your shell top, but you will wear your body suit under it. Your hair at every game will need to be in such a way that you will be able to put your ribbon in your hair.
Everyone will be uniformed which means if one person doesn t have black stretch pants than nobody wears them, same goes for all the other parts of the uniform except for your skirt, shell top, boy cut briefs, cheer socks, and cheer shoes. EXAMPLE: If someone forgot their body suit than they will sit out and the rest will wear them. M. Practices Time: 3:15pm-5:30pm (when school is in) You need to bring: o Cheer folder o Pen/pencil o Notebook paper o Water bottle o Towel Appropriate dress o cheers sneakers o cheer SHORTS with NO strings/buttons/zippers o tee shirt that covers belly even when you lift up your arms o hair pulled up off shoulders and face o NO sweats, high socks, excessive lotion. Positive attitude and outlook on what you would like to accomplish with your team. **Remember, not every practice will turn out the way you want them to. Come to practice with your jewelry OFF! An extra practice will be called if the team is not ready for game night/day. The coach is the only on who handles practice!!! N. Uniforms NO jewelry should touch your uniform. The ONLY exception is on picture day for your individual picture.
To wash o You put it in the washer on the cold and the gentle cycle. o DO NOT PUT YOUR UNIFORM IN THE DRYER. Hang dry it. o If you iron it, make sure you have something between the iron and the uniform such as a paper towel. O. Stunts Stunting is very serious, please be aware that your son/daughter could get hurt. While Stunting o No laughing o No carrying on o No talking ( the back spotter is the only one who commands the stunt) o Always watch the flyers hips because what ever way they are going is where she is going. o Be fully aware of what is happening around you. o Use your legs not your back when lifting because you could hurt your back. o Flyers- No pants/sweats and no lotion. I will provide more detailed information at practice. P. Extra Curricular activities You may not the do another sport if it interferes with York Tech Cheerleading. I realize that the school and recreational organizations have a lot to offer, but if they are running into each other, you obviously can t devote yourself to both equally or fully for that matter.
