Introduction The Volkswagen industrial engine with the engine code AFD is a 1.9-litre watercooled 4-cylinder in-line diesel engine with direct injection, exhaust gas turbocharger and intercooler. With the numerous different areas of application for this engine, the notes on the following pages should be studied carefully prior to the development of new machines.
