USB UIRT Naming If you are adding IR blasting after initial configuration of your server, you will need to name each of your USB UIRT s so that the Enterprise TV Software can tell them apart. NOTE: If possible, SnapStream will perform these steps for you during the testing and burn in process. If you are unsure whether you need to follow this procedure, please contact Technical Support. 1) Label each of your USB UIRT s Example: USB UIRT, USB UIRT 2, USB UIRT 3, USB UIRT 4, USB UIRT 5 NOTE: If you have more than one server with IR blasting, the next server will use the exact same naming convention for it s UIRT s. So if you have 2 servers and each one has 5 USB UIRT s, you will have 2 UIRT s named USB UIRT, and 2 named USB UIRT 2, and so on. 2) We now need to burn that name into each USB UIRT. Right now, each of them are using the same name: USB UIRT. We will need to connect the UIRT that you have labeled USB UIRT 2 to one of the USB ports on your server. Make sure no other UIRT s are connected to the server at this time. If you are prompted for a driver, you can browse to the following location: C:\SnapStream Support\Drivers\USB UIRT\x64 3) Now run the following executable: C:\SnapStream Support\Drivers\USB UIRT\uurename.exe You will see the following prompt: Would you like to rename this device [Y/N]? Hit the letter Y on your keyboard. You will then see the following prompt: Enter USB UIRT Number <2,3,4,5,6,7,8>: Hit the number 2 on your keyboard followed by the enter key. 3

NOTE: If you would like to test to make sure it was named correctly, you will need to disconnect and reconnect the USB UIRT before running uurename.exe again to verify it s identity. 4) Disconnect USB UIRT 2, and connect the UIRT labeled USB UIRT 3. Make sure that no other UIRT s are connected to the server. 5) Repeat step 3 to name this UIRT according to the label. Continue steps 3 and 4 until all USB UIRT s have had their respective names burned into them. Once all of the USB UIRT s have had their names burned into them, you can connect them all to the server at the same time. IR Blaster Hardware Setup Now connect a stereo to mono adapter to the back of each USB UIRT. Plug a Blink emitter into each side of the stereo to mono adapter. The gold side of the adapter will be zone 1, and the silver side of the adapter will be zone 2. 4

You can now peel off the stick on the bottom of the IR bulb at the end of the emitter. This will allow you to stick the bulb over the IR sensor on your set top box. IR Blaster Software Setup Follow the instructions when setting up Infrared tuners ( IR blasters ) on an Enterprise Server with multiple set top boxes. First, note the make and model of your set top box. The following is a list of set top box profiles that are included with Enterprise TV. If your set top box does appear on the list below, go to Configuring Enterprise TV to use your IR Blasting Hardware. If it does not appear on the list, go to Creating a Set Top Box Profile. Make Model DSS DishPlayer 7200 Echostar 370 Echostar 1000 Echostar 2500 Echostar 3000 Echostar 3800 Echostar 4000 Echostar 4700 Echostar 4720 Echostar 4722 Echostar 6000 Echostar 7700 General Instruments Satellite Receiver DSR 922 4DTV General Instruments Cable box CFT 2100 General Instruments Cable Box CFT 2200 General Instruments Cable Box DCT 2000 Hughes GAEB0 GCEB0 Hughes HTL HD Jerrold Cable Box CDT 2100 Mitsubishi DSS Receiver SR HD5 Motorola Cable Box DCT 2000 Motorola Cable Box DCT 2244 Motorola Cable Box DCT 6200 Nokia Satellite Receiver MediaMaster 9200 Pioneer Cable Box BA 6300 RCA DRD430RG Samsung SIRTS360 Scientific Atlanta Cable Box 8602 Scientific Atlanta Cable Box Explorer 2000 Scientific Atlanta Cable Box Explorer 2100 Scientific Atlanta Cable Box Explorer 3100 Sony SAS A3 Sony SAS A4 Sony SAT A2 Sony SAT A3 Sony SAT A50 Sony SAT B1 Sony SAT B3 Sony SAT B50 Sony SAT B55 Sony SAT B65 Sony SAT HD100 Sony SAT HD200 Sony TV Starchoice 405 Tocom Cable Box 5507 Toshiba TRX 2022 Zenith Cable Box ST 1600 5

Creating a Set Top Box Profile Follow these steps in order to create a tuning profile that matches your set top box for use with an IR blaster. 1) Stop the SnapStream Broker Service. Start > Administrative Tools > Services Highlight the SnapStream Broker entry and click Stop on the left, or right click the SnapStream Broker entry and click stop. 2) Run the following executable to start the remote training process: C:\Program Files (x86)\snapstream Media\Enterprise TV\UsbUirtSetup.exe 6

This screen enables the user to train Enterprise TV to use the IR Blaster by using the set top box s remote control and one of your USB UIRT s. NOTE: This process only needs to be done once for each type of set top box you are using. 3) UIRT Name: USB UIRT If you have more than one USB UIRT, you can specify the one to use for this remote training session by using one of the following UIRT Names: USB UIRT, USB UIRT 2, USB UIRT 3, USB UIRT 4, etc 4) Profile Name: Put your set top box name here. This name you will have to select from a list when configuring the tuners for IR blasting in the Enterprise TV web admin. The rest of the settings on this screen affect how Enterprise TV will use the remote to tune channels. They will be described in more detail during the Testing portion of this document. 7

NOTE: We recommend only changing these settings after determining that Enterprise TV is unable to properly tune the receiver box. 8

Training 5) Set the remote control and USB UIRT on a flat surface about six inches apart. Point the remote at the front of the USB UIRT and hit Train All Buttons to begin. 6) Follow the onscreen instructions in red. Once each of the number boxes are lit up, Enterprise TV has been trained with the appropriate frequencies. If necessary, hit Reset All Buttons to start over, or select an individual button on the app interface to retrain that button on the remote. The LED on the front of the USB UIRT should flash when the remote s buttons are pressed. If you are using multiple USB UIRT s, the others may or may not flash as well; either result is normal. It may take up to a minute for some key presses to be detected. If it takes longer than that, try varying the distance between the remote and the USB UIRT, and press the appropriate button again. 7) Once all of the buttons have been detected, go to File > Save As File Name: Whatever you entered as the profile name, and add the.rmt extension. Browse and save the resulting file to: C:\ProgramData\SnapStream Media\SnapStream TV\ExternalTuners\UsbUirt 9

Testing Your New Set top Box Profile In the UsbUirtSetup application, go to Mode > Testing Now go to File > Load Remote File Open the rmt file that you saved previously. If you haven t done so already, make sure the stereo to mono adapter is plugged into the back of your USB UIRT. You can connect 2 blink emitters to the back of this adapter. The IR bulb of the blink emitter should be stuck over the IR sensor of your set top box. 1) Fill in the UIRT Name field with the name of the USB UIRT you would like to test. Example: USB UIRT, USB UIRT 2, USB UIRT 3, etc 2) Use the Zone field to select which zone on the USB UIRT you would like to test. Zone 1: This controls the blink emitter that is plugged into the gold side of the stereo to mono adapter. 10

Zone 2: This controls the blink emitter that is plugged into the silver side of the stereo to mono adapter. Zone 3: This uses the front of the USB UIRT for IR blasting. Zone None: This blasts a signal to all 3 zones. This is great for testing your USB UIRT cable connections. The rest of the settings on this screen affect how Enterprise TV will use the remote to tune channels. NOTE: We recommend only changing these settings after determining that Enterprise TV is unable to properly tune the receiver box. Pad Count: Specifies the number of digits a set top box requires to change channels. For example, a box may require the user enter 013 to get to channel 13; this corresponds to a Pad Count setting of 3. Repeat Rate: The number of times Enterprise TV should rapidly repeat a single button press to ensure that the set top box receives it. Increase this number if the set top box is not receiving digits, and decrease it if the set top box is receiving duplicate digits. Symptom Slow channel changing speed Receiver intermittently misses transmissions Receiver duplicates button presses Solution Lower Value Increase Value Lower Value Time Delay: The time, in milliseconds, that Enterprise TV should wait before sending the next button press when changing channels. Enter Before: Simulates pressing the Enter or OK button of your remote before entering digits. If your set top box falls asleep and needs to be woken up with Enter, use this option. Enter After: Some set top boxes will not change channels at all unless the user hits Enter or OK after entering the channel number. Enable this option if the set top box for this source behaves in this manner. Use Padding: Use this option to enable or disable the Pad Count. 11

Configuring Enterprise TV to use your IR Blasting Hardware 1) First make sure that you close out of the UsbUirtSetup.exe application. 2) Start up the SnapStream Broker Service. Start > Administrative Tools > Services 3) Open up the Enterprise TV Web Administration Page. Open firefox and browse to the following web address: localhost 4) Select the Admin tab in the web admin. 5) Select the Tuners option on the left side of the screen. 6) Click the Edit button next to the tuner you would like to configure. 7) Under External Tuning Properties, select USB UIRT as your External Tuning Interface. 8) Select Cable/Satellite Box Model from the drop down list. NOTE: The RMT file you created will be in this drop down list if you saved it in the following location: C:\ProgramData\SnapStream Media\SnapStream TV\ExternalTuners\UsbUirt You can use the Upload External Tuner Config File field to upload an rmt file of your choosing. 12

9) Fill in the Device Name field with the USB UIRT name you would like to use for this tuner. Example: USB UIRT, USB UIRT 2, USB UIRT 3, etc 10) Select the Zone you would like to use with the USB UIRT specified in the Device Name field. Zone 1: This controls the blink emitter that is plugged into the gold side of the stereo to mono adapter. Zone 2: This controls the blink emitter that is plugged into the silver side of the stereo to mono adapter. Zone 3: This uses the front of the USB UIRT for IR blasting. Zone None: This blasts a signal to all 3 zones. This is great for testing all of your USB UIRT connections. 11) Adjust the rest of the settings according to what worked best when testing the USB UIRT. These settings are further explained in the Testing Your New Profile section of this document. 12) Click the Save button. 13) Repeat steps 6 12 for the other tuners you would like to configure for IR blasting. If you have clustered Enterprise TV Servers: Make sure that each USB UIRT is connected to the correct server. Example: You may have two different USB UIRT s named USB UIRT 4, but each will be plugged into a different server. That is how our software can tell them apart even though they have the same name. USB UIRT 4 on server 1 will only be able to be configured for tuners on server 1. 13

Testing Each Tuner s Channel Changing Ability in Enterprise TV We suggest doing this testing from a separate computer with Enterprise TV Link installed. 1) Use Firefox to browse to the Enterprise TV Web Administrator Interface. webaddress: Your enterprise tv server name 2) Select the Admin tab. 3) Select Tuners on the left side of the screen. Here you will see your tuners listed in the order that they will be used (from top to bottom). 4) To test the first tuner in the list, simply open the Enterprise TV Link ViewScape and use the program guide to tune into a channel that this tuner has access to. Once Live TV comes up, you can use the number pad on your keyboard, and the enter key to change the channel. NOTE: Make sure you are changing to a channel that you are sure that you have. Example: If you don t have HBO and you try to tune to HBO, it will appear that your IR blasting hardware isn t working correctly. You can hide channels that you don t have by using the webadmin > admin tab > lineups. 14

5) To test another tuner in your tuner list, you will need to back out of live tv using the Enterprise TV ViewScape (the Esc key on your keyboard works for this purpose). 6) Go back to the Enterprise TV Web Administration Interface > Admin > Tuners Disable all of the tuners above the tuner you would like to test. This is accomplished by checking off the tuners you want disabled, selecting the More Actions button, and selecting Disable Tuners. 7) Now use the program guide in the Enterprise TV ViewScape to test live television. You will now be using the highest tuner in the list that isn t disabled. Use the number pad and the enter key on your keyboard to flip channels. 8) Repeat steps 5 7 to test each of your tuners using IR blasting. 9) Once you have tested all of your tuners, make sure to go back into the Enterprise TV Web Administration Interface to re enable all of your tuners. This is accomplished the same way that you disabled your tuners, except you will be selecting the Enable Tuners option instead of Disable Tuners. 15
