The sheets shall be positioned with a minimum overlap of 150 mm and the overlap shall be hot air welded over at least 40 mm by automatic welding tools or over at least 50 mm by manual welding tools, calculated from the edge of the upper sheet of the overlap. Figure 1: Standard overlap with mechanical attachment 4.3.1.2 UltraPly TPO Membrane Transverse Joints Figure 2 shows a typical transverse joint and/or joints without mechanical fasteners in the overlap. These joints shall be executed with a minimum overlap of 100 mm and hot air welded over 40 mm (automatic weld) or 50 mm (manual weld), calculated from the edge of the upper sheet of the overlap. The weld shall be executed and pressured with a pressure roller.

European Technical Approval No. 12/0419 Page 13 of 18 Figure 2: Standard overlap without mechanical attachment 4.3.2 Fastener spacing The number of fasteners shall be determined according to national legislation (eg design codes such as EN 1991-1-4 and relevant National Annex) for every relevant roof zone (eg field of roof, perimeter and corner). The admissible design wind load per fastener (W adm ) is given in this ETA (see clause 2.5.2 and Table 3).The length of the fasteners shall be determined to ensure that the fastener will be protruding sufficiently through the profiled steel deck as required by applicable national provisions. 4.3.3 Standard installation detail for upstand and base tie-in The membrane must be attached mechanically over the entire perimeter and around penetrations. The base tie-in shall be executed by mechanically attaching the membrane either in the plane of the roof or in the upstand with appropriate fasteners every 300 mm on centres. All upstands are further finished with a separate strip of UltraPly TPO membrane which is fully adhered (as of 450 mm height) with UltraPly Bonding Adhesive and/or mechanically attached according to the guidelines of the manufacturer. On top of the upstand, the membrane is mechanically attached and finished with an applicable detail from the Firestone installation manual. Figure 3: Base tie-in detail
