ANNUAL REPORT NOVEMBER 2014 OCTOBER 2015

Leoš Vrzalík Chairman of the Board Dear members, partners and supporters of the green building, It is with much pride that I present you with the Czech Green Building Council Activity Report 11/2014-10/2015. It is difficult to summarise the breadth and variety of our activities in the short introduction, therefore I asked the members of the executive team to outline the most important activities, achievements, impact and influence of the CZGBC in the last 12 months. I am personally very pleased that in the last few months we managed to initiate the process of revising the CZGBC strategy and also define the direction for development and growth of the sustainable building industry in general. The round table discussions with our members brought about a number of useful ideas and suggestions that we used as a basis for 2016/17 Implementation plan. The follow-up discussions with top managers of the member companies together with leaders of related industries should clearly define the strategy for the green building sector and for achieving the CZGBC Vision. I would like to thank all members for their support and I believe that together we will succeed to steer further progress of this prosperous sector. We are working towards better business environment and to support our members in meeting their own business and strategic objectives on the sustainable basis.

INSPIRATION In the last twelve months we organised 47 events with total attendance of 785 people. We introduced some new activities to the existing ones. The Annual Conference Green Building 2015 brought inspiration from the greenest office building The Edge in the Netherlands, presented by its author architect and suppliers of unique technology to the building. The conference became the source of information about new technologies, materials and processes. The Green Building Academy, a 3-day course, was traditionally packed with presentations and lectures on the latest trends in the area of sustainability. We introduced regular monthly seminars on wide range of topics from green retrofit, technologies leading to savings news in certification systems to marketing of green building. The seminars also serve as the promotion possibility for members products and services. Green Walk Green Talk - the guided excursions to certified buildings have become very popular. In the course of the year, our members had the opportunity to see both renovated and newly constructed buildings. All educational events also provide great opportunity for networking and business development. Moki Topiarzová Event Manager Total number of attendants at events Seminars 114 Green Building Club 150 Green Walk Green Talk 133 Task Groups 150 Exclusive member meetings 90 Academy 13 Conference 135 We would like to thank our sponsors: Saint-Gobain Construction Products CZ, Schneider Electric CZ, Daikin Airconditioning Central Europe Czech Republic, Skanska, Len+k architekti, Mosaic House, JRD, Wiesner-Hager Project, CMC architects, Prolicht Czech, Jakub Cigler Architekti, EkoWATT CZ, Hoval and Development News

INFLUENCE The Task Groups (TG) activities focused on several main themes. The key activities and achievements: TG Sustainable Materials helped the Ministry of Environment with definition of conditions for support of EPD certified materials in the grant programme Nová zelená úsporám. TG LEED - CZGBC was invited to become the member of LEED International Roundtable lead by the USGBC that works with the Councils and other institutions on global development and promotion of this certification system. The Task Group was also represented at the LEED Technical Meeting in Berlin. TG Internal Environment CZGBC became the patron of the category Healthy Office in the 2 nd year of the award CBRE Meeting Room of the Year. The TG prepared new system for healthy offices valuation. TG Energy Management prepared the concept for development and standardisation of training for building energy management. The education course will start in 2016. The CZGBC ad-hoc task group pro-actively participated in consultations on updating the Prague Building Rules with the aim to pursue the inclusion of sustainability aspects in the document. TG EU Legislation was significantly involved in commenting on two documents - EU Green Public Procurement criteria for offices and Identifying macro-objective for the resource efficiency of EU buildings. We would like to thank the participants in all Task Groups for their hard work that contributed to the achieved results. Libor Marek Programme Manager

IMPACT Chance for Buildings Legal environment is one of the key drivers of green building development. We take every effort to influence the legislation in a way that it supports and favours green materials, technologies and processes used in the green building construction. The key achievements: We are involved in setting the rules for grant programmes: Supporting the introduction of the grant programme Nová zelená úsporám on revolving basis Lobbying for multibillion allocation of funds for grant programmes for energy effective renovations and construction of new residential, commercial and public buildings Cooperating in setting the technical and economic criteria for grant programmes that motivate for better quality renovations We are active participants in preparation of legal and institutional changes Assisting with setting up the new Department of energy efficiency and savings at the Ministry for Industry and Trade Participation in preparation of the amendments of law in energy management and regulation on energy demands in buildings that will support use, credibility and meaningfulness of demands of energy labels Expanding our focus to public procurement issues We meet regularly with public sector representatives Organising two multi-resort seminars and discussions with relevant ministerial officers Obtaining first-hand up-to-date information from relevant ministries and providing them to members as early warning service Building the credit as independent experts on local and international level Participation in legal processes on proactive and also on-demand basis (direct invitations from ministries and other governmental organisations) Being an inspiration for authors of grant programmes in Middle and Eastern Europe, especially due to functional settings of Nová zelená úsporám These achievements of the Czech Green Building Council and the member associations of the alliance Chance for Buildings were possible only thanks to one strong voice of all involved parties from various areas of construction and building sector.

SUPPORT After the membership decline related to the crisis in the building industry, the membership base has stabilised and started to grow. The Council gradually expands its services and activities to meet the needs and requirements and the strategic and business goals of its members. The Council has now young and dynamic team which expanded with colleagues from PR, project management and office support. With the arrival of new team members we revised and set new responsibilities and accountabilities. We extended our cooperation with the World GBC European Regional Network (ERN), and regularly participate in the ERN meetings that provide excellent platform for sharing experience, especially in the area of services that lead to satisfaction of the members and in the membership growth. For our exclusive members, we organised a number of meetings with representatives of the public sector, leaders and experts from the green building industry. The Czech Green Building Council actively uses various electronic and printed media for effective communication and information on green building issues. CZGBC is a member of the editorial board of the electronic magazine Energy sustainable buildings, we prepare monthly Newsletter of Green Building and started to use the social networks more intensively. We regularly cooperate with Development News and the daily Hospodářské noviny. In the recent period, initiating the process of preparation of the strategy became the key activity of the Council. The process should set the direction for the development of the sustainable building sector and to define the implementation plan to meet the strategic goals and objectives. SPECIAL PROJECTS The increasing prestige of the Council is reflected by the cooperation with key partners. During the last year, we started to work together with important institutions. Green Buildings in the National Library of Technology The Czech Green Building Council together with the National Library of Technology agreed on gradual building of specialised fund of literature on sustainable building. In the pilot phase we purchased some 40 titles of foreign books and by the end of 2019 the fund should count over 200 books and sources. The project was launched during the reception that took place in the Gallery of the Library at presence of key representatives of both organisations, sponsors and project partners. Cooperation with UCEEB In the last 12 months, the University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings (UCEEB) and CZGBC members organised two seminars one on the topic of energy management of buildings and second on research of healthy internal environment. Part of it was an excursion to UCEEB in Buštěhrad, where the participants had the opportunity to see various laboratories and research processes. UCEEB became the new academic member of the Council.

International Project BuildUpon In March, the Czech Green Building Council together with other 13 European Councils of the World GBC started working on two-year project BuildUpon. It focuses on significant strengthening of national renovation strategies submitted to EU in 2014. The strategy should define clear long-term concept of gradual renovation of all building stock in each EU country. So far, a large number of the countries meet this obligation only formally. The aim of the project is to interconnect all stakeholders and prepare robust foundations for the strategy revisions in 2017. The strategies should identify barriers that slow the renovation of various types of buildings and find solutions to overcome these barriers. Using the full potential of renovations can create excellent opportunity for building industry and for the whole national economy as it is expected to create new jobs and have overall positive economic impact.
