What is the sendspace Wizard? sendspace Wizard is a free desktop tool that lets you upload multiple files into your sendspace account! Our software tool is completely ad-free! sendspace Wizard is available in three versions, for use with Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X (Universal binary) and Linux. Using sendspace Wizard, you can: Upload Multiple files Resume Broken Uploads Drag/Drop files to upload to sendspace Manage your online files, get file links Create folders and organize your files You can set the sendspace Wizard to start queued files automatically and begin the next file as each transfer is completed. The sendspace Wizard supports upload and download resume. You may never have to restart a transfer again! Free users can upload. sendspace Max members can also use the Wizard to: Download Multiple files Resume Broken Downloads Download using built-in download accelerator Share online folders Pro users can download Pro files, but not ordinary non-pro sendspace links. Registration and Logging in You need to be registered with sendspace to use the Wizard. If you already have an account, enter your login details to begin using the Wizard. If you wish the login to be automatic next time, tick the Remember password checkbox, then click OK. You will then be logged in. If you are not registered at sendspace, you need to go to sendspace.com. Registration is free. We have provided a link button to the registration page for your convenience. Alternatively, go to sendspace.com and click on the Signup for Free! link in the top left corner to go to the registration page. There is some information we will need in order to complete the registration. It is marked in bold print on the registration form.
Username: Please enter a username of your choice. If you choose a username that is already in use, after clicking Register, the error message This username already exists. Please choose a different one will be displayed. Simply enter a different username and try again. The username can only consist of letters and numbers. If you use unusual characters, an error message will appear when you click Register. Full Name: Please enter you full name. Email: Please enter your email address. We need this address to contact you if needed. You will be sent an email with an activation link to confirm your address, so it is important that you enter your address properly. Don t worry, we hate Spam too, so we ll never send you unsolicited mail or give other people your address. Please note: Some free email service providers may wrongly identify our emails to you as spam. After clicking Register, you may see the message Our emails may be blocked by this provider. We recommend you use a different email address, or press 'Register' to continue. Enter a different email address, or continue. If you do continue, you may need to look in your spam or trash folder for the activation email. Password: Please create a password for your account. You may use a combination of letters and numbers. The password must be between 4 and 10 characters long. If the password is too short or too long, a message will appear after you have clicked Register and you will need to enter a different password before continuing. Confirm Password: Enter the same password a second time. This is to make sure you entered the password correctly. Your password is important. Never share it with anyone else.
Primary Use: Please select from the dropdown options your primary use for sendspace. The options are: Personal, Business, and Business and Personal. Connection speed: Please tell us your Internet connection speed, if you know it. This statistical information helps us to provide you with a better service. Age Group: Please tell us what age group you belong to. This helps us to know more about who are using sendspace the most. Checkbox; I have read and agree to the terms of service: To use sendspace, you must agree to our terms of use. If you click on the link terms of service, a new page will open. If you agree to our terms of use, put a tick in the checkbox. Register: After completing the form, click the Register button. If you have forgotten anything, or there is an error, a message will appear around the field that has a problem. Make your correction and click Register again. You will then see this page:
The registration process is almost complete. In order to confirm your email address, we automatically send you an email containing an activation link. You will need to check your email inbox and click on the activation link to complete registration. The email also explains what to do. We always send out the activation email. If you do not receive it after a few minutes there may be a problem. Occasionally, some programs and free email address providers, including Hotmail and Yahoo, wrongly identify the activation email as spam. If you cannot find our email in your inbox, please check the location used to store junk mail and spam messages. If you wish, you can ask us to send the registration activation email again. To do this, go to the login page and click on the link Resend activation and enter your email address. We will then send another activation email to you. When you click on the activation link, we automatically complete your registration. You can now enter your username and password into the Wizard login prompt and begin using the Wizard.
Wizard Overview sendspace Wizard is available in three versions, for use with Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X (Universal binary) and Linux. Your Wizard desktop tool may look slightly different to the images in this guide, depending on your operating system, and your computer settings. However, the basic appearance and all menus and functions are the same in all versions. This view, as seen on Windows Vista, shows the top menu, two main windows, local and remote, and the transfer queue. The local window, on the left side, displays files on your computer. The remote window, on the right, displays the files uploaded in your sendspace account.
Below the menu is an address bar to enter download URL s, as you can see in this view on Mac OS X. Free users cannot use the Wizard for downloading and may find this area grayed out. You can select files and use the top menu to set an action. You can also right-click on a file icon to set an action, or you can drag and drop files between windows. Each time you select a file to be uploaded (or downloaded, if you are a premium user), the details are displayed in the transfer queue at the bottom.
Wizard Main Menu The menu provides easy access to the common Wizard functions. File: New connection The login popup is displayed so that you may connect to your sendspace account. File: Disconnect - The Wizard disconnects from your account at sendspace but remains open. File: Exit - The Wizard disconnects from your sendspace account and closes. Tools: Preferences Various user options are available, described in more detail in the next section. Connect: Connect to sendspace. Disconnect: Disconnect from sendspace. Start: Begin a file transfer. Stop: Stop transferring. Add: After selecting a file for uploading, use this icon button to add the file to the transfer queue. Delete: Delete a File. Preferences: Opens the Wizard preferences dialog. Feedback: Send us suggestions and feedback.
Preferences You can set your own user preferences. You can open the dialog through Tools or by clicking on the Preferences icon in the main menu. There are four main sections: Connection, Account. Transfers and GUI Tweaks. Max upload speed: If other Internet activity is affected during uploading because the Wizard is using all the bandwidth, you can set a maximum upload speed that is lower than your connection allows. By default, the setting is unlimited, shown by a 0. Max download speed: If other Internet activity is affected during downloading because the Wizard is using all the bandwidth, you can set a maximum download speed that is lower than your connection allows. By default, the setting is unlimited, shown by a 0. Use proxy: If you want to connect to sendspace through a proxy, use this area to enter the connection
settings. We support HTTP, SOCKS 4 and SOCKS 5 proxy servers and user authentication, if needed. Username: Enter your sendspace username here. If you have logged on successfully before, this has been filled in for you. Password: Check the box Always remember my password if you do not want to be prompted at login. Use this option if you are using a secure computer. If your computer is shared you may prefer to be prompted each time you use the Wizard. Automatic Login: Check this box if you want to be logged in automatically each time you use the Wizard. Send me an email: Check this if you want to be sent a confirmation email each time you upload a file. The confirmation email will include the download link if you want to keep a record of it.
Use current open folder for uploads: This box is checked by default. It means that the open folder in the remote window is always the upload destination. Use current open folder for downloads: Check this box if you want downloads to go into the open folder in the local view. If you prefer all downloads to go into a different folder, uncheck this box and enter the folder location. There is a browse button provided on the right. Start queued files automatically: Check this box and any files added for transfer will begin automatically. Uncheck this box if you prefer to start transfers manually. Resume next file on file transfer completion: Check this box if you want the next file in your transfer queue to begin transfer as soon as the previous one has completed. When a destination file already exists: If the Wizard begins to transfer a file and a file with the same name
already exists due to a broken transfer, you can autoresume, never resume, or be asked what to do. Automatically clear successful transfers from the queue: If you prefer to leave finished transfers in the queue for status checking, deselect this box. Show extended options when adding file to upload queue: If this option is selected, when you add any files to be uploaded, an extended information dialog will open. You may enter a description and a recipient s email address. If you have selected multiple files for uploading, you can apply the description etc. to be used for all the files, or not. If you are a premium user, you will also be able to add a download password. Max simultaneous uploads: You can choose how many files will be uploaded at the same time. The optimum amount depends on your connection. Max simultaneous downloads: You can choose how many files are downloaded at the same time. The optimum amount depends on your connection. When all uploads are completed: You can set the Wizard to do nothing, close the Wizard, and even shut down or restart the computer if you prefer. When all downloads are completed: You can set the Wizard to do nothing, close the Wizard, and even shut down or restart the computer if you prefer. This is useful if you leave your computer unattended during transfers.
Minimize the application when clicking the close button: If you prefer to minimize the application rather than close it, check this option. Show Wizard icon in the system tray: If you do not want the Wizard icon to be shown in the system tray, deselect this option. Minimize the application to system tray: If you prefer the application to open minimized to the system tray, select this option. Information for Mac Users Many of the menus for the Wizard are displayed when a user right-clicks on a file. For Mac users who cannot do this, right-click menus can be enabled by pressing the Ctrl (Control) keyboard key and your mouse button simultaneously.
Local Window The local window shows the files and folders on your computer. This view lets you locate files for uploading and select the destination folder for downloads. The local menu helps you to navigate through the files and folders on your computer. From left to right, the functions are: Back/Forward Arrows: You can go back to a previously viewed location and return using the back/forward arrows on the left, just like a browser. The feature includes a history button indicated by the two small down arrows - so that you can navigate further back/forward. Go to Parent Folder: Move up in the folder tree to the parent folder of the one you are viewing. Refresh: Use this button to refresh the current folder view. Home Folder: You can quickly move to the user home folder in Windows this is the user documents and settings folder. Desktop: Go directly to your desktop folder. My Documents: Go directly to your default user documents folder. Open a folder browser: You can open a folder browser to quickly locate a folder or file.
Folders are listed in a folder tree so help you quickly locate a destination. Switch the browser view: You can view files and folders in the local window in list form with file details or just displaying the files. Use this menu button to change views. This will only change the view in the local window. When you mouse over a file or folder in the local window we display basic file info for you, including the file size.
Uploading a File The local window helps you locate files on your computer. You can navigate using the various options in the local view menu. Once you have located a file or multiple files you want to upload there are three ways to add to your transfer queue and begin the upload. Method One: Select a file by clicking on the file icon and the click on the Add button on the main menu. If you have Start queued files automatically checked in preferences, the file will be added to the transfer queue and begin uploading automatically. If you have this option turned off, you can begin the transfer by pressing the Start button. Method Two: Once you have selected a file for upload, right-click and the menu options appear: Select Upload You can also use the keyboard shortcut F4.
Method Three: For many, this method is the easiest of all. Just select the file you want to upload and drag/drop the file to the remote window or to the transfer queue window both locations do the same thing; add the file to the transfer queue ready for uploading. Tip: You can even drag/drop files from outside the Wizard tool! For example, drag/drop files directly from your desktop to the wizard transfer or remote window and it will be added for uploading. If you have checked Show extended options in preferences, when you add a file to the transfer window using any of the methods above a dialog will popup: You can enter a description, a recipient s email address and, depending on whether you have a premium account or not, you may enter a password. If you have selected multiple files at the same time, you can choose to apply the same description etc. to all the files, or be prompted for each one. You can view the progress of your uploads in the transfer window.
Transfer and Log View Windows You can check the progress of your transfers and make changes in the transfer window. If you right-click on a file in the transfer window, you can select further options including Start and Pause Transfer. You can also change the order in the transfer queue, moving files up or down in priority. You can delete a file from the transfer queue too it is only deleted from the queue the file itself is not deleted. The Log View lists all the activity of the Wizard and is useful to confirm an action has completed previously or to troubleshoot. Errors and error codes are also listed here.
Remote Window The remote window shows the files and folders in your online sendspace account. You can navigate between folders and select files for editing, downloading or deleting in much the same way as if they were on your computer. Your remote files and folders are the same as those in MyFiles on the website. The local menu helps you to navigate through the files and folders on your computer. From left to right, the functions are: Back/Forward Arrows: You can go back to a previously viewed location and return using the back/forward arrows on the left, just like a browser. The feature includes a history button indicated by the two small down arrows - so that you can navigate further back/forward. Go to Parent Folder: Move up in the folder tree to the parent folder of the one you are viewing. Refresh: Use this button to refresh the current folder view. Home Folder: You can quickly move to the user home folder this is the main default folder for your account. Managing Remote Files You can edit files in your sendspace account, get download links, create folders and move files. Right-click on any file in the remote window and a submenu is displayed. New Folder: Select this option and you will be prompted to enter a name for your new folder. You can also create folders inside of other folders. Using different folders for your files is a useful way to order your files. After you have created a folder, you can rename it by selecting properties.
Download: Select this option to add the file to your transfer queue for downloading. Copy Link Location: You can copy the download link location to your clipboard ready for pasting into a document, email etc. Rename: You can rename your file. Delete: You can delete the file this cannot be undone. Properties: You can edit the file name, add or edit a file description, add or edit a password and see the download link to the file. You can also see how many times a file has been downloaded. The properties that you see will depend on the type of account you have. Free users will not be able to set a password and non-pro users will only see one download link. Send File Link: You can send a file link to a recipient. In fact, you can send it to more than one recipient by separating multiple email addresses with a comma.
You can also add a message that will be included in the email that is sent. Refresh: This refreshes the window. You can move files into folders using drag and drop. Some of the options are available using keyboard shortcuts. These are shown next to the menu item.
Downloading a File from your Account This feature is available to Max and Pro users. Once you have located a file or multiple files you want to download in your remote window there are three ways to add to your transfer queue and begin the download. Method One: Select a file by clicking on the file icon and the click on the Add button on the main menu. If you have Start queued files automatically checked in preferences, the file will be added to the transfer queue and begin downloading automatically. If you have this option turned off, you can begin the transfer by pressing the Start button. Method Two: Once you have selected a file for download, right-click and the menu options appear:
Select Download You can also use the keyboard shortcut F4. Method Three: For many, this method is the easiest of all. Just select the file you want to download and drag/drop the file to the local window or to the transfer queue window both locations do the same thing; add the file to the transfer queue ready for downloading. The files will be downloaded to the folder on your computer that is open in the local window view.
Downloading a File using a URL If you are a Max premium user you can use the Wizard for downloading. Enter the URL for the file you want to download from sendspace in the location below the main menu and press Enter on your keyboard or click on the green triangle icon on the right. This will add the file to the transfer queue. You must make sure the URL is correct or it will be rejected. Please note: You cannot enter a sendspace shared folder URL, it must be for a file. You can also add multiple file URL s to your transfer queue. Select the icon on the farthest right, next to the Enter triangle. A new dialog will pop up.
You can enter or paste the download links you would like added to the transfer queue. You do not need to separate them with commas etc, we will extract the links from the entered text. You can monitor your downloads in the transfer window. If you want to download more than one file at a time, set the number in preferences. The Wizard has a built-in accelerator with resume support, so this is the best way to download from sendspace. For Pro users: You can use the Wizard to download your own files or other Pro files, but you will not be able to download other people s non-pro files for this, please use the main web site. If you are a free user and would like to use the Wizard for downloading, you can upgrade your account to Max at any time.
