1 Purpose The purpose of this document is to summarize and communicate the new features, known issues and best practices for Xerox Secure Access Unified ID System (XSA) 5.3. 2 Scope It is intended for Equitrac staff and partners that support and service XSA 5.3. These release notes include new features and known issues at the time of release and observations about best practices and policies. 3 What s New in This Release? 3.1 New s The following new features are available with this release. availability varies by configuration and end points used. Authentication Support Third Party Card Reader Support Xerox Smart Card Support Description/Benefit Xerox Secure Access will now support 3 rd party card readers that are supported by Xerox s 3 rd party card reader framework. Third party card readers DO NOT require a 3 rd party card reader license when used with the XSA product. Xerox Secure Access will now support Smart Card authentication through the Xerox s Smart Card infrastructure. Note: Smart Card is only currently supported with the EIP platform integration. Licensing s Licensing Model Authentication License Follow-You Print License Description/Benefit Xerox Secure Access version 5.3 removes the hardware requirement from XSA version 4. As a result, the software is now licensed through a traditional Nuance license serial number. Each device license is purchased individually and can be automatically activated or manually activated. Note: The Equitrac system utilizes a 6 tier licensing structure which allows licenses to be assigned on a per device basis. The authentication license allows a user to walk up to the device, identify themselves and use the functionality of the MFP. This authentication can happen with a card reader, through a PIN code or user name and password entered at the device. Each authentication license is associated with a deployed device. The Follow-You Print license allows end user to print to a secure queue and release the job from a Xerox MFP. This feature requires authentication and is sold bundled with an authentication license. Customer can add-on Follow-You Print in the future, if just an Authentication License was purchased initially. Management Improvements Xerox - Support Native Smart Card Solution with ECSP Update Device List in System Manager Network Accounting Description/Benefit Support for Xerox s Smart Card solution with ECSP that allows the Xerox native smart card authentication for Follow-You and Secure printing. The list of device models settable in System Manager for physical devices has been updated to reflect the most recent devices offered by various OEMs. Xerox devices can be initialized with Network Accounting enabled. This corrects an issue where a Xerox device would fail to initialize if Network Accounting was not installed. Page 4 of 11
OS Additions Windows Server 2012 R2 Description/Benefit XSA supports Windows Server 2012 R2. Server Architecture Product Based on Equitrac Office V5 Description/Benefit At its core, Xerox Secure Access is Equitrac Office version 5. Updates to XSA will be released in lock-step with Equitrac Office. As, Equitrac Office supports new devices and operating systems, so will XSA. Because XSA is so closely tied with the core Office technology, upgrades can be as simple as replacing XSA license codes with Equitrac Office license codes. 3.2 Environment Support Changes 3.2.1 Installation Requirements Further information regarding hardware, operating system software and requirements are outlined in the Technical Specification (Tech Specs) datasheets available on the partner portal. https://partners.equitrac.com/site/support/subsectionslist.aspx?sectionid=371 Page 5 of 11
4 Customer Continuity A direct upgrade from XSA 4.1 to XSA 5.3 is not supported. XSA, however, can be upgraded to EO 5.3 with appropriate licenses.
