Three-Phase Electrical Service Terminals are on top of the disconnect switch for one- and two-fan units. Terminals are on the bottom for the disconnect switch for three- and four-fan units. Three-phase service is not provided by Emerson (See Note 5 on page 38.) 2. Earth Ground A field lug terminal is available for earth ground connection. Ground the terminal strip to make a fan motor ground connection. 3. Primary High Voltage Entrance Two knockouts, each 7/8" (22.2mm) diameter, at the bottom of the enclosure. 4. Surge Protection Device (SPD) Field Connection Terminals High-voltage surge protective device terminals. (SPD is optional.) 5. CANbus Terminal Connections Terminals for field CANbus cable connection. a. 5A is the CANbus connectors TB49- is the input terminal for CANbus high. TB49-3 is the input terminal for CANbus low. TB50- is the output terminal for CANbus high. TB50-3 is the output terminal for CANbus low. Each CANbus cable shield is connected to Terminal SH, (see Item 9). b. 5B is the END OF LINE jumper c. 5C is the CANbus device address DIP switch. This CANbus cable is not supplied by Emerson (see Note 2 on page 38). 6. Remote Unit Shutdown Replace existing jumper between Terminals TB38- and TB38-2 with field-supplied normally closed switch having a minimum 75VA, 24VAC rating. Use field-supplied Class wiring. (This is an optional feature that may be owner-specified.) 7. Alarm Terminal Connections a. The Common Alarm Relay indicates when any type of alarm occurs. TB74- is common; TB74-2 is normally open; and TB74-3 is normally closed. A, 24VAC is the maximum load. Use field-supplied Class wiring. b. The Shutdown Alarm Relay indicates when a condenser loses power or when a critical alarm has occured that shuts down the condenser. TB74-4 is common; TB74-5 is normally open; and TB74-6 is normally closed. A, 24VAC is the maximum load. Use field-supplied Class wiring. 8. Indoor Unit Interlock and SPD Alarm Terminals a. On any call for compressor operation, normally open contact is closed across Terminals 70 and 7 for Circuit ; and from an indoor unit, normally open contact is closed across Terminals 70 and 230 for Circuit 2. b. During an SPD alarm, the normally open contact is closed across Terminals 2 and 3. (SPD is an optional device.) 9. CANbus Shield Terminal This terminal is for the field connection of the field-supplied CANbus cables. The shield of the field-supplied CANbus cables must not be connected to ground. 0. Primary Low-Voltage Entrance One knockout, 7/8" (22mm) diameter, free for customer low-voltage wiring.. Surge Protection Device Entrance One knockout, 7/8" (22mm) diameter, at the bottom of the enclosure. (High-voltage SPD is an optional device.) Liebert DSE 36
8.2 Notes on Electrical Connections Liebert MC Electrical Connections (Source: DPN00269, Rev. 7, Pages 2-3). Refer to specification sheet for the unit voltage rating, full load amp and wire size amp ratings. 2. The CANbus wiring is field-supplied and must be: Conductors 22-8AWG stranded tinned copper Twisted pair, minimum four twists per foot (305mm) Braided shield or foil shield with drain wire Shield must be wired to ground at the indoor unit Low capacitance (5pF/FT or less) UL-approved temperature rated to 67 F (75 C) UL-approved voltage rated to 300V UV-resistant and moisture-resistant if not run in conduit Plenum-rated NEC-type CMP, if required by national or local codes Examples: Belden 89207 (plenum-rated) or Alpha Wire 6454 (UV resistant outdoor rated) Category 5, 5e or higher 3. Do not run the CANbus cable in the same conduit, raceway or chase as high-voltage wiring. 4. No special considerations are required when the total external cable connection between the indoor unit and outdoor unit(s) is less than 450 ft. (37m). A CANbus isolator is required for total external cable connections greater than 450 ft. (37m) but less than 800 ft. (243m). 5. All wiring must be sized and selected for insulation case per National Electrical Code and other local electrical codes. 6. Do not bend cables to less than four times the diameter of the cable. 7. Do not deform cables when securing them in bundles or when hanging them. 8. Do not run cables near devices that may introduce noise, such as machines, fluorescent lights and electronics. 9. Do not stretch cables. NOTICE Risk of CANbus communication interference. Can cause improper operation. Separate high voltage wires and other high voltage sources from CAN wires by 2 inches (305mm). 8.2.
