Introduction Voice Vision is an Institute imparting Computer Training to Blind, Visually Impaired and Low Vision People since April 2000. This institute is the first of its kind in Mumbai. Ms. Sushmeetha B Bubna, a visually impaired female desired to learn Computers but could not find any institute, especially for Blind or visually impaired and none of the other leading computer training institutes were ready to enroll her. Hence with her firm determination she acquired knowledge about computers and decided to impart the same to others. Thus from April 2000 Voice Vision took birth. Location/Venue The Institute is located within 10-12 minutes walkable distance or minimum auto rickshaw fare from the Goregaon Railway Station and also near to the Eastern Express Highway and is well connected by Bus. Thus is easily accessible for Students as currently students are coming from as far as Vasai, Nallasopara, Ghatkopar and Mulund and have no problem of accessibility. Aim of the Institute Voice Vision aims at imparting training to students in operating computers as in today s world, computer is no more a luxury but has become a Necessity and with knowledge of computers progress has no limits. Especially for Blind & Visually Impaired it opens new horizons towards being independent. The institute aims at seeing students being at par or rather ahead of the normal people. With the knowledge of Computers Blind & Visually Impaired can achieve better Employment and/ or Self Employment opportunities. Personal attention and supervision being provided at our Institute
Curriculum of the Courses The institute provides in depth knowledge of 1. Computer Fundamentals 2. Windows Operating Systems 3. Microsoft Word 4. Microsoft Excel 5. Surfing the Internet 6. Outlook Express The above courses are conducted with the help of a Screen reading software called JAWS from Freedom Scientific INC., a USA based Company. Duration The duration for the Basic Course (includes Windows, Word, Excel, Internet, Outlook Express and JAWS) is 5 Months (3 days a week, 2 hours a day). Students have the option of selecting specific modules instead of the entire basic course. Single module courses will be of 1 months duration (3 days a week, 1½ hours a day). Course Fee The fees for the Basic Course is Rs. 5,000/- And for single module courses, it is Rs. 1,500/- per module. Eligibility We do not seek for any specific academic qualification as to learn computers there is no age or educational limit but good knowledge of English with Enthusiasm and dedication is essential. A pre-enrolment test will be mandatory before admission to any of the courses in order to gauge the level of computer knowledge of the student. Facilities The Institution is well equipped with Latest Computers and other Equipment & has well Qualified and Trained Staff. Personal attention is provided to each student. The Course Materials are provided either in large Print or on Audio CD s (mp3 format) as required by the students. Practical training is given to each student in every session. Achievements We have successfully completed training for the Basic Course of our 13th Batch. Further we have also conducted and completed the Web Designing course First Time in India and have awarded Laptop loaded with JAWS (screen reading software) with two upgrades to the best performing student.
