I think that our on line classroom set up allowed us to speak the language in the comforts of our own dorm rooms, which made French seem more casual and useful instead of intimidating. Blair Chancey, student in French course using Edufolio, Fall 2003

Edufolio Learning Lab Product Description Edufolio Learning Lab delivers the future of language instruction today. Instructors and students can easily record their voices and listen to recorded content from any computer connected to the internet. Students no longer have to schedule a time to work when the language lab is open or wait for an available computer because any computer will work with Edufolio Learning Lab Edufolio Learning Lab is easy to use for both instructors and students. Every user has a personalized page listing courses that only pertain to him/her. The user clicks on the name of their Learning Lab and goes to that lab s main page. Screenshot of sample Edufolio Learning Lab page What can I do with Edufolio Learning Lab? Audio/Video Recording Instructors and students can easily record audio/video directly into the website. Audio/video recordings can be a part of any homework or assessment. Page 2 of 6

Assessments In Edufolio Learning Lab, you can create assessments that have several different answer types: multiple choice, true/false, short answer, essay, and most importantly audio recordings. That s right, your students can record their answer directly into the website. The questions can be text, audio/video, mathematical expressions, or images. Whether you use the quiz bank to generate automatically graded quizzes or have your students answer in audio recordings, Edufolio s assessments allow you the flexibiliy and functionality you have always wanted. Slideshows Create Slideshows and add your own voiceovers or allow the text to speech engine to read your notes to the students. Text to speech is currently available in English, French, Spanish, and German. PowerPoint presentations can be imported into Edufolio with the click of a button. Slideshows can also be used in Edufolio Live sessions (see below). Flash Cards: Create Flash cards to help your students review. Side 1 Side 2 Page 3 of 6

Edufolio Messenger Edufolio Messenger allows any user to start a chat session with any other logged in user (teacher or student). The toolbar allows you to appear offline if you want to work without interruptions. MathIWYG and Plotting MathIWYG (math is what you get) allows you to create math expressions online as easily as you create a Word processor document. Let s be honest, when a teacher is at a chalkboard, s/he never writes: 2x^2/y. S/he would write that expression like you see it in the MathIWYG window to the left. Teachers and students can use MathIWYG to create the expressions. You are not limited to expressions with Edufolio Learning Lab because you can also plot equations. You can also use MathIWYG to create any assessment in Edufolio Learning Lab. Like all of Edufolio s tools, MathIWYG is designed so that you can mirror your in class environment online. You do not have to create the equation offline, upload to your page, create the link, and then test. With Edufolio, content creation is done in one easy step. Page 4 of 6

Edufolio Live Communicate in real time with your students with Edufolio Live. Two way audio/video communications, image/video/slideshow import, whiteboard, and more allow you to teach in a completely new way. You can use Live for distance education or for virtual office hours. Discussion Forums Edufolio s built in discussion forum tools are great for foreign language students. WYSIWYG text entry: accented characters are easy with Edufolio. Audio thread: you can post audio threads as well as, or instead of, text threads. Student Tracking Do you want to know what your students are doing and how long they spend reviewing/studying materials? Edufolio Learning Lab allows you to see how long students spend in each area. These are just some of the tools available in Edufolio Learning Lab. For a complete list of available features, contact us at sales@edufolio.com. Page 5 of 6

Edufolio Learning Lab Quick FAQs Can Edufolio Learning Lab integrate with our current systems?
