The User Documenation Uniflow System Ben Whorton Information Technology @ BSC Title: Uniflow Documentation Subtitle: Copier Login via the console and Use Author: Ben Whorton Date: 7/29/2013 The purpose of this document is to demonstrate the methods for accessing the copiers on campus via swipe card or PIN code. Once authentication has occurred, this document will also show how to access the different features of the copier and finally, how to log out. Accessing via card swipe (BSC ID card): 1. The magnetic stripe reader on each copier is located on the top right corner of the machine, near the back edge. The magnetic stripe on your card should face the writing on the swipe point. 1
2. The copier login console gives you two options: 1) swipe your card or 2) manually enter your PIN code. PIN code button for manual entry 3. If you do not have your card, but know your BSC ID number, you can manually enter it. Press the PIN code button in the lower right corner as shown above and press the Login button as shown below. (Note: If you do not have your card or do not remember your BSC ID number, you must visit the office of Student Accounts, present another form of ID, and they can retrieve your number for you for printing purposes or print a new card for lost cards.) 2
4. Upon a successful card swipe or PIN code entry, you will be presented with the following 3 options: Option 1- Copy Allows access to the copier functions. Load your document, press Copy, choose finishing options to your liking, and press the Green Start button. 3
Option 2 - Scan and Send Allows you to scan documents directly to your email account as a pdf (the default), tiff,or jpg. You can then forward or share scanned items with others as needed. Load your document, press Scan and Send, press the ScanToMyself button, press OK, and press the Green Start button on the copier. (Options will be presented. Adjust those as needed.) 1. Press ScanToMyself. 2. Press the OK button. 3. Finally, press the Green Start button to email the document. 4
Option 3-Secure Print This is a new feature that allows you to print directly to the copier s secure print queue, thus allowing you to release your print job from ANY copier on campus. Options (middle choice at the bottom of the screen) may be used with these items before printing such as stapling, 2 sided, etc before choosing to Print&+Delete. To print to the secure print area from a campus computer, choose the RPS copier print selection in your print menu of choices with Word, PowerPoint, or other software before clicking to print. At the copier, Pick Secure Print from the three copier options and select your document/options and then Print+Delete. 5
Another new feature is Mobile and Wireless Printing. Any email sent or forwarded from your BSC email account (from any device) to the address print@bsc.edu will appear in your Secure Print Queue. The email body and any attachments will appear as individual files in your secure print queue. Once you ve made a selection of a job in your secure print queue (by pressing the file name): Select one file to print by pressing the file name and hit the Print+Delete button (lower left this prints the file and then removes it from the queue). Select the file and Delete if you no longer wish to print it. Choose Options to pick finishing for your document. Then press Print+Delete Choose the Select All button to highlight all the files in the queue and print them by then pressing Print+Delete. If you are expecting a print job but it does not appear onscreen, you may press the Refresh button until your file appears. Please note the following conditions with Secure Print: o Print Jobs will be held in the queue for 10 hours before being purged. Please arrange to have your jobs printed prior to that expiration or plan your printing to occur within that window of time. o Only print jobs sent from your BSC email account will be visible. You will not be able to view jobs sent from another account. 6
At any time and from within any context, you may Press the Main Menu/Cancel button to return to the main screen of three options. Finally, you must log out when you are done with your tasks. Simply press the ID button on the console screen to end your session and logout. If you log in to a copier and are ever idle for more than 2 minutes, you will automatically be logged out and have to log in again. This is also a protection for your account should you forget to log off after copying or retrieving print jobs. 7
