System IDs Creating a New System ID Account System ID accounts are utilized to submit data requests to PJM s application program interface (API). The credentials for the System ID account establish authentication to PJM tools via the browserless interface. Please reference API documentation for each tool on PJM Tools page http://www.pjm.com/markets andoperations/etools.aspx. System ID accounts cannot access the user interface (UI) of PJM Tools; they can only be used for browserless activity. The only user interface access a System ID has is to the PJM Tools homepage and the User Profile tab of Account Manager. System ID account passwords do not expire and the distribution of System ID account credentials to users of the account will be managed by the company account manager. PJM will not be responsible for creation and management of the company System ID account. If a new System ID account must be created, the general user must create a new User account and then follow the conversion steps. To create a new System ID account in the Account Manager tool, the company account manager will perform the following: 1. On the Add New User page, a CAM can add a new account and designate it as System ID Click on the Add New User tab: o Fill out all of the required user information. o Select the System ID checkbox. o The CAM is only allowed to select the company for which they are the approved CAM. o Select Next to proceed through the new user registration process. 1 P a g e
Select Tool Access required for the System ID account and click the Submit button. User will receive an email containing their Company s Longname and Company s Shortname stating that their account was successfully created with a link to set their password. Please note that the link to reset the password expires after 4 hours. This is a security feature to help prevent other users or automated systems to gain access to a user account. Usernames are not provided in this email for security purposes. 2 P a g e
Once the user selects the link to create their password, the user will submit the new password, and generate a notification email that is sent to the user and Company Account Manager(s). System IDs - Expected Behavior Accessing PJM Tools User Interface as System ID System ID users are not allowed to access the user interface of PJM Tools with the exception of PJM Tools homepage and the User Profile section of Account Manager. The passwords on System ID accounts never expire and these accounts are solely utilized for browserless activity. System ID policies are controlled by the new SSO, therefore every application which is secured through the new SSO will not allow System ID users to be able to access its user interface. However, System ID users will be able to access the user interface of applications which are secured under the legacy SSO (ex: Member Community, Data Viewer and all of the legacy esuite applications). For example, this particular user is a System ID and has the following PJM Tools access: 6 P a g e
If this System ID user logs into PJM Tools (https://etools.pjm.com/etools), they will be able to successfully access the PJM Tools homepage. If this user tries to access any of the following applications secured with the new SSO (in this case, Account Manager, Billing Line Item Transfer, Bulletin Board, Data Miner, InSchedule, Power Meter or Resource Tracker), the user will receive see a 403 Error. For example, the System ID user clicks on InSchedule: The following error will display when the System ID user tries to access InSchedule or any of the other refreshed applications secured with the new SSO: 7 P a g e
Similarly, if the System ID user tries to access the Account Manager tool itself, they will receive a 403 Error. - Click on Tool under Account Manager - Result: 403 Error displays. However, the System ID user can access their User Profile page in Account Manager by clicking on the View Profile link on the PJM Tools homepage: 8 P a g e
