During the last twelve months, the station employment unit engaged in the following menu option initiatves: Menu Option Initiative Description Participation in Job Fairs by station personnel who have substantial responsibility in the making of hiring decisions. On March 5, 2013, Binnie Media attended the University of Southern Maine Career Fair at the school's Portland campus. Those in attendance included General Manager Patrick Collins, General Sales Manager Tim Gatz, On-Air Personality Leif Erickson and Promotions Director Corey Garrison. The staff focused on speaking with students interested in all areas of employment in broadcast, includig sales, marketing and programming. Participation in Job Fairs by station personnel who have substantial responsibility in the making of hiring decisions. On April 17, 2013, Binnie Media attended the Windham High School Career Day. Besides speaking with students interests in a wide range of broadcasting careers, On-Air Personality and Production Director Andy Austin gave a special presentation on his professional life and broadcasting careers in general. Establishment of an intern program designed to assist members of the community to acquire skills needed for broadcast employment. Binnie Media has set up an internship program at the radio stations in the unit. The internship program is designed to provide students with an opportunity to learn about broadcasting. Interns get hands on experience in marketing, promotions, engineering, sales, support, and live broadcasts. Binnie Media also offers Job Shadow programs to local high schools, vocational schools and trade schools. During the reporting period we hosted a total of 3 students from area schools.
Training of management level personnel as to methods of ensuring equal employment opportunities. On April 9, 2013, Sales and Station Manager Timothy Gatz participated in webinar training sponsored by the Maine Association Association of Broadcasters entitled "Making It Work: A Broadcaster's Guide to the FCC's EEO Rules".
