Pollution Incident Response Plan Introduction Schmidt Quarries is committed to ensuring all aspects of our quarrying activities comply with the environmental legislative requirements in NSW. This Pollution Incident Response Management Plan has been developed to ensure that if a pollution incident occurs in the course of our activities that all aspects of the environment that may be threatened are managed and rectified in accordance with the environmental legislation. A hard copy of this plan shall be maintained at the quarry and shall be implemented by the if a pollution incident occurs where harm to the environment is caused or threatened. Definitions Pollution Incident An incident or set of circumstances during or as a consequence of which there is or is likely to be a leak, spill or other escape or deposit of a substance, as a result of which pollution has occurred, is occurring or is likely to occur. It includes an incident or set of circumstances in which a substance has been placed or disposed of on premises, but it does not include an incident or set of circumstances involving only the emission of any noise. Inventory of Pollutants (Hazardous Substance Register) The Mine Integrated Management Plan (MIMP) for the quarry includes a Hazardous Substance Register and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for each pollutant. The Hazardous Substance Register and corresponding MSDS documents are kept in the office at the quarry. All hazardous substances brought on site including subcontractor s - are stored, handled and transported in a manner that meets relevant legislative requirements and minimises the risks associated with the substance. No products or substances, including chemicals or fibrous materials, are brought to the workplace without a current MSDS. All hazardous substances and dangerous goods are stored in the original containers with the label intact at all times. Any hazards substances that are not regular items, are needed in large quantities and are classified hazardous must not be brought onto site until approval is granted by the Director. See form SQ-F- 21 Approval to Bring Chemicals or Compounds onto the Schmidt Lease. Each hazardous substance is recorded in a register (refer to form SQ-F-04) and relevant staff trained on the MSDS and how to use them. Occasionally non stock items will need to be ordered and brought on site. Safety equipment shall be made available as per the MSDS document and within the Hazardous Substance and Dangerous Goods Safe Work Method Statement. A map of the quarry can be located on the notice board, which details the following: 1. Hazardous Substance Storage Areas 2. Location of sediment pond Emergency Contact Details The MIMP states all emergency details in the event of a pollution incident. The list of the emergency contacts can be located on the quarry notice board. Communication with Neighbouring Properties and the Community If an incident occurs the Director shall ensure any neighbouring properties will be advised of the incident in the following ways: 1. Telephone the property owner immediately or as soon as possible and advise them of the incident details, ie type of pollution, type of chemical, if the authority has been contacted and any safety issues for humans, animals or plants, details of preventative actions taken and details of avenues they should undertake to ensure their safety is not compromised. The Schmidt Quarries website shall be updated to ensure the community located around the quarry area are made aware of the incident and are provided with controls needed to remain safe. Example: close all windows, stay inside. Authorities notified. Inductions and Training See induction procedure under Training heading SCHMIDT QUARRIES PTY LTD Version 4 May 2014 Page 4 of 8

Where possible the Systems Coordinator will organise training on site by authorities such as the Fire brigade, DPI and EPA. SCHMIDT QUARRIES PTY LTD Version 4 May 2014 Page 5 of 8
