Planet Orchestrate: Prgrammable Netwrk and Service Orchestratin Planet Orchestrate creates a highly prgrammable and interperable system that is agnstic t the type f resurces r services being rchestrated. Thrugh its use f service and resurce infrmatin templates and pen APIs, Planet Orchestrate supprts interperability and interactin with the industry s widest range f peratinal supprt systems (OSSs) and ther higher-layer applicatins, clud management platfrms, physical netwrk elements and clud- r NFV-based virtual resurces. Planet Orchestrate can be custmized t suit the needs f diverse netwrk peratr envirnments and applicatins. The system's flexible architecture integrates capabilities that can be used individually, r in cmbinatin, t supprt different use cases: Multi-Dmain Service Orchestratin, NFV Orchestratin, and Clud Orchestratin. Multi-Dmain Service Orchestratin The service prvider infrastructure is cmprised f multiple technlgies layers, as well as specialized dmains such clud, metr, and cre netwrks. Services typically span multiple technlgy layers and dmains. Further, rchestratin can ccur within a layer and a dmain, but als acrss multiple layers and dmains. Planet Orchestrate supprts Multi-Dmain Service Orchestratin (MDSO) capabilities t efficiently prvisin and manage service chains cmprised f physical netwrk elements and SDN/NFV-enabled virtual cmpnents acrss multiple dmains. Using APIs, Planet Orchestrate can be integrated with SDN cntrllers such Cyan s Planet Operate, as well as 3rd party cntrllers, element/netwrk management systems, and clud management platfrms. Multi-dmain service rchestratin prvides netwrk peratrs the flexibility t deliver cmpelling services such as NFV-enabled Ethernet. This ffering incrprates an SDN-pwered, autprvisined Carrier Ethernet Netwrk-as-a-Service (NaaS), with ptinal sftware-based features such as vfirewall and vencryptin that can be instantiated by the end-custmer when and where needed thrugh a prtal, r an API. By supprting the ability t integrate different NFV, clud, and SDN capabilities as required, multidmain service rchestratin allws peratrs t adpt new technlgies at their wn pace. NFV Orchestratin Planet Orchestrate supprts versatile multi-vendr NFV Orchestratin (NFVO) capabilities that are fully cmpliant with the ETSI NFV ISG Management and Orchestratin (MANO) framewrk. As illustrated in Figure 2, Planet Orchestrate can perfrm VNF management and rchestratin functinality, r in the case where a VNF manager is prvided by the VNF vendr, perfrm nly the rchestratin functins. The pen architecture f Planet Orchestrate NFVO enables rich, multivendr envirnments within the NFV Infrastructure (NFVI), including supprt fr different clud management sftware and physical servers. This further enables peratrs t break the lng-standing cycles f vendr lck-in. Planet Orchestrate NFVO is als highly flexible, enabling peratrs t deply and manage a variety f VNFs at varying degrees f scale and perfrmance. The NFV rchestratin engine prvides intelligent placement f VNFs and supprts distributed NFVI t ptimize use f NFV resurces. VNFs als can span ne r mre data centers, r be distributed t servers r devices lcated n the custmer premises. As a carrier-grade system, Planet Orchestrate supprts the perfrmance, availability and security demands f service prvider applicatins. Full perfrmance mnitring and alarm/event reprting is prvided fr the NFVI and virtual functins, including tracking f relatinships and interdependencies between the NFVI resurces and VNFs. An intrinsic knwledge f the tplgy and the mapping between applicatin and virtual resurces enables rapid fault-islatin and recvery as well as high-availability and resiliency. Using Clud Orchestratin, netwrk and data center peratrs can ffer their custmers the ability t instantiate new clud resurces, such as virtual machines, new tenant netwrks, r additinal strage, dynamically, and n demand. The requests can be made by end-users thrugh web prtal, r by specific applicatins using an API. Cmbining Clud Orchestratin with Multi-Dmain Service Orchestratin prvides dynamic cntrl ver netwrk resurces such as bandwidth and QS, enabling peratrs t ffer enterprises the cntrl they demand ver applicatin perfrmance and resurce allcatin fr a superir custmer experience.
