RMS-2FS Stereo FM Transmitter Monitoring System The RMS-2FS FM Monitor station is a complete system solution, designed to remotely monitor the input and output signals of the Stereo FM transmitters and provides a demodulated L/R audio output for remote audio quality monitoring, with additional back-chassis terminal connections to monitor and control other devices & site perimeter at the transmission site. Additionally, the RMS-2FS incorporates an embedded event-scheduler allowing remote scheduling of the controlled output for remote test & verification purpose at the site. Remote monitoring, alarm and control are done over TCP/IP Networks. Alarms are sent as SNMP traps over the Network to designated monitor centers, and email-alerts sent via email to assigned field technical personnel. An embedded Web-server is also available for remote status monitoring and control using a standard Web-Browser. The integrated Ethernet/IP port thus allows remote monitor, alarm, channel selection and other default settings of RMS monitor & alarm parameters. The RMS-FS is frequency agile and channel to be monitored can be remotely set from the Web page in the (88-108MHz) FM Band in 100 KHz steps. The transmitter RF output level & demodulated L/R audios, the RDS presence, and the transmitter input L/R audio feed are monitored for alarm purpose. In addition, the demodulated audio is available from the front & back for stereo-audio quality monitoring. Rear panel terminals are available to monitor & control via contact closure & TTL other equipment and the perimeter at the remote transmission site. The front panel has status LED indicate RF carrier, Stereo (L&R) audio and RDS status. Additionally, a Headphone jack is available with gain control for local quality monitoring of the demodulated Left & Right audios.
- 2 - Features The RMS-2FS FM Monitor station has been designed with Network connectivity, to allow remote, alarm and control of transmission sites over an Ethernet-IP Network. It can this way monitor the transmitter RF level, RDS data and audio demodulated outputs, as well as the transmitter audio input feed. It also monitors and controls other devices at the site via contact closure. Remote Monitor/Alarm Control & Scheduling The RMS-2FS station TCP/IP port allows remote monitoring, control and event-scheduling over the Network. It incorporates an embedded Web-Server for remote monitor, control and scheduling from any Web Browser. Alarms are sent as snmp-traps & email to alert Network Operation Center and field technical staff. RF level monitor alarm settings, RDS alarm delay & group selection and FM frequency selection, are all remotely set from the Web-page. RF Level Monitoring The RMS-2FS monitors the RF level with two independent Threshold settings for alarm. Threshold levels are set from the Web-page via the Ethernet port. In addition to remote status monitoring, a front panel status LED is available to indicate the status of the first (THL1) Threshold that is typically set to -3dB. RF level displayed on the Web-page in dbuv, but it can also be calibrated for readings in dbm or dbmv if needed. RDS Monitoring The RMS-2FS monitors the presence of RDS (Radio Data System) with the possibility of individual monitoring the presence of up to eight (selectable from the Web-page) RDS groups with adjustable delay before alarm. The status of the RDS data presence is indicated on the Front panel. Audio Monitoring The RMS-2FS demodulates the RF input to monitor separately the Left and Right audio levels. Each monitored audio has separate (internal) delay & Threshold adjustments before alarming. The RMS station also monitors stereo presence of an external Left & Right audio connected to the RMS monitor station, typically the Left & Right audios at the input of the FM transmitter. Demodulated Audio Output Left & Right demodulated outputs are available for quality monitoring: Front panel: Unbalanced stereo phone Jack with front panel gain adjustment. Rear Panel: Balanced (600-ohm) Left & Right audios internally adjustable. Site-Equipment Monitoring & Control The RMS-2FS is equipped with rear panel (plug-in) terminal connections for remote Network monitoring and control of other equipment and the perimeter at the transmission site. Eight (8) monitor inputs are available for contact closure (TTL) alarming, with eight (8) controlled (1-FormC relay) outputs to control equipment and in real time at the site.
