The Need Dashboard was initially requested by one Site (Twin Creeks in Nevada) Surface Maintenance and Operations During Morning meetings they had to review different documents or spreadsheets to review all the metrics and KPI s Some data was pulled using spreadsheets connected to Mining Application database Other data was retrieved using Webi reports created on a previous project, but just to dump the data to excel Not easy to view data at different levels in their meetings 5
Requirements Easy to use 3 main different areas Productivity (5 KPIs) Reliability (4 KPIs) Planning (4 KPIs) Show KPI s : on different Time Ranges (Day / Week / MTD / YTD) For different Shifts (Day / Night / All) Ability to Drill down to different levels (Equipment Class / Fleet / Machine/ detail level) Ability to go to the detail for further analysis Exception-Based Analysis (Alerts) 6
Highlights Requirement session were in Denver (away from the minesite) One person from maintenance One person from Operations Data Architect Project Manager Dashboard Developer Mostly all the development was done on the mine site 12 Weeks UAT for Twin Creeks took long time Twin Creeks leadership promoted this solution to two other sites in Nevada (Phoenix and Carlin) Agreed to have one dashboard structure to support all 3 sites UAT for Phoenix/Carlin/Twin Creeks done on site 7

About the Data 3 different mine sites 13 KPI s divided in 3 Main Areas Productivity Reliability Planning 4 different Time Ranges (Day / Week / MTD / YTD) 3 different Shifts (Day / Night / All) Ability to show data by Equipment Class / Fleet / Machine 7 Equipment Classes 30 different machines distributed on all the equipment classes 11
Dashboard Development Highlights Separate dashboard in 3 parts 1 Main Dashboard 2 Embedded Dashboards that receive parameter from the first one Use Flash variables to pass parameters Use DocumentDownload? (Similar to Opendocument) to open dashboards 12
Dashboard Development Highlights Created pre-calculated Webi Reports for each metric and aggregation level (reports have data for all 3 sites) No KPI Calculations in the dashboard 3 Webi Documents Productivity Document Reliability Document Planning Document Each Webi Document has around 10 Reports Reports refresh once a day at 6:40am Reports and Dashboards are hidden from the users Users can only see the Hyperlinks created in the public folders 13
Dashboard Development Highlights Used INFOBURST to refresh the webi reports and generate XML DATA CACHES for each kpi XML Data Caches can be queried with SQL statements Use Infoburst data Connectors in Xcelsius 14
Dashboard Development Highlights 15 Use OpenDocument to Drill down from the dashboard to Webi reports for more detail Dashboards are stored in InfoView CELogonToken to get server name automatically and drill down to webi report
Dashboard Development Highlights Audit No flash audit in BOE XI 3.1 Used Query as a web Service (QAAWS) Tiny Qaaws query with the dashboard name Fires query at opening No login since dashboard is hosted in Infoview 16
Next Steps There may be a Phase 2 of the dashboard with more Kpi s and more detail on Total Tons More Mine sites to adopt the dashboard Interest in dashboard solutions has increased in other areas of the company Sites trust the datawarehouse Data Create mobile versions of some dashboards 17
