OVERVIEW France is situated in Western Europe; sharing borders with Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Swiss, Italy and Spain; and is surrounded by North Sea, Channel Sea, Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. "L'Hexagone", as it is usually called, hosts the world's 4th-largest number of cultural UNESCO World Heritage Sites and receives around 83 million foreign tourists every year, the most of any country in the world.
HEALTH CARE SYSTEM The french Health Care System is one of the best of the world. We have a free insurance compagny which takes care of about 70% of our medical expences. We can complete it with a personal insurance.
MEDICAL EDUCATION The medical studies in France are highly selective. The system begins with a first year in common with students in pharmacy, midwifery and dentistry, which selects, by means of an entry exam, about 13% of these students, so as to integrate second year. Then, students go through two years of pre-clinical studies, before enter in the second cycle, where clinical studies begin. This period lasts 3 years, combining clinical practice and lectures. At the end of the sixth year, all students have a new huge competitive exam, national this time. The rank obtained to it determines the order of priority for interns posts to be filled. The third cycle starts as you become an intern. Internal cycle can vary from 3 to 5 years.
