The TETRA BS Load Generator developedby fjord-e-design is designed to carry outload tests for TETRA base stations. Thesoftware simulates the traffic caused bythousands of mobile stations at the basestation to be tested to create complexload scenarios. Register processes, groupattachments, calls and short data servicetransmissions (also status SDS) are simulatedamong others. The software is based on the TETRA MS Protocol Stack and works above the UMAC,which was replaced by a communications module based on TCP/IP (Load Generator Communication Module). With the corresponding counterpart at the base station (base station communication module) this system can be used to test the layers ofyour base station above UMAC. You can set the number of mobile stations, which have configurable characteristics regarding registration (number, extension time etc.), call structure (number, call duration, group call, etc.) and data (SDS, status SDS, number, length, etc.). The mobile stations of a set always show the same statistical base characteristics. This allows you to text your software regardingfunctionality and stability evenwhile you are still developing or testingthe base stations.

Application Load test (BSLG Software run up to 1000 virtual mobile radios) Generating a base load Testing the protocols of the base station (MS Simulator) Generating random sequences of test scenarios (excellent addition of statistical test cases) All TETRA call types are possible TETRA BS Load Generator Base Station LLC Load Generator Communication Module TCP/IP Base Station Communication Module

Architecture of the software cation module (CM) is situated, which replaces the lower layers (UMAC, LMAC and Physical layer) of the Tetra MS Protocol Stack. The CM communicate via a TCP/IP connection (UDP is also possible) with the base station. The interface stack handler offers a simply structure interface, which can be disclosed to you if required. It is therefore possible to tailor the application to your needs and to develop additional features. The left diagram shows the structure of the software in detail. The core of the test system is a Tetra MS protocol stack, which can be instantiated several times (one instance per simulated Tetra mobile station). On top of the respective stack instances a stack handler is situated, which offers a simplified interface with the application. Beneath the stack instances a communi- User Man Machine Interface Application Interface Stack Handler Stack Handler Mobile Station Protocol Stack Interface Communication Module Communication Module Man Machine Interface

Highlights Testing high load scenarios Generates dynamic test cases Free scalable performance test Software based, no RF, no mobile radios needed User Interface The main window is split into two parts. The upper part is a table with statistical information about the test itself. The lowerpart contains the trace of the test.

Configuration Set The BSLoadGenerator has a simple GUI to configure and control the BS load test and a 1000 times instanced mobile stack to do the test. Up to 10 set contains settings for an amount of mobiles. This amount may be between 0 and 1000 mobiles, but the sum of the mobiles in all ten mobile configuration data set is limited to 1000. Each amount of mobiles has the same statistical attributes. This attributes tell the mobile how long it should wait for registration, when to deregister after this and when it should make a call and how long this would be.
