Project Information Title: CENTRAL " Certification for EmploymeNt in Transport and Logistics in Europe " Project Number: 2010-1-FR1-LEO05-14492 Year: 2010 Project Type: Status: Country: Marketing Text: Summary: Transfer of Innovation granted FR-France Transport and logistics companies, most of which are small to medium-sized companies, are present in every European country and employ more than 4% of the active population. Most European countries have an integrated concept of logistics and are considering transport and logistics as a sector in its own right, whose scope needs to be defined. The changes occurring in this sector give rise to increased demand for new skills. The existing certifications and training programmes do not always provide a satisfactory response to the needs of employers and training bodies. In order to provide concrete solutions to the problems presented above, the consortium has fully collaborated in order to provide the following outputs: An overview of partner countries existing classifications and job definitions in Transport and logistics An overview of the different methods to classify jobs A complete European transport and logistics job classification Competence and educational standards following ECVET principles for the warehouse operator and the freight forwarding agent European training programmes related to the educational standards presented below National specificities to be taken into account when using the European training programmes Our DIRECT TARGETS: companies (small and medium-sized companies and large corporations), employees, HR and Training Managers, social partners, professional organisations, public and private training bodies, government departments in charge of development and training, recruitment consultants, etc. Description: The previous NOVALOG job classification has been updated, extended to transport jobs, and converted into an online database. The CENTRAL complete European transport and logistics job classification and definitions establish correspondences between jobs in the various countries, structure and harmonise Transport and Logistics jobs in Europe The European CENTRAL competence and educational standards following ECVET principles for the warehouse operator and the freight forwarding agent provide a better response to the needs of training bodies, employees and employers. The detailed training curricula improve the training offer in our sector (filling gaps where the training offer was either poor or not complying with European mobility quality standards). Besides these main outputs, many different other tools were created and available on our website in order to support any actor interested in job classification or training in transport and logistics. It is noteworthy that, in order to garuantee the high quality of our products and to make them answer at best the needs of European Transport an dlogistics actors, they have been evaluated and validated by external experts (teh scientific council) all along teh project lifespan. Themes: Sectors: *** Lifelong learning *** Recognition, transparency, certification ** Labor market ** Vocational guidance ** Enterprise, SME *** Transportation and Storage http://www.adam-europe.eu/adam/project/view.htm?prj=7432 2

Project Information Product Types: Product information: Projecthomepage: *** Education evaluation methods material for open learning modules program or curricula teaching material website transparency and certification A website dedicated to the project An overview of partner countries existing classifications and job definitions in Transport and logistics An overview of the different methods to classify jobs A complete European transport and logistics job classification on line and available in each partner s language Relevant job definitions Complete competence standards for the warehouse operator and the freight forwarding agent (conversion into Learning Outcomes using the EQF descriptors (knowledge, skills and competences) and allocation of ECVET credit points) European educational standards related to the two jobs selected and made of descriptipn of training methodologies and complete detailed training programmes. National curricula: based on the European training programmes developed and presented in the CENTRAL Handbook, national curricula were drawn. Indeed, because national environments differ, some modules are oriented towards the specific requirements of those countries. Thanks to our European products, future learners will be able to accumulate ECVET credit points and transfer them between countries and between different training systems. Mobility is encouraged. www.logisticsqualifications.eu ; www.transportqualifications.eu http://www.adam-europe.eu/adam/project/view.htm?prj=7432 3
