2 Project Information Title: Project Number: Project Type: Year: 2011 Status: Marketing Text: Automotive Language Training CZ1-LEO Transfer of Innovation completed CZ-Czech Republic Modern foreign language lessons set in the automotive industry The project Automotive language Training (ALT) provides a comprehensive and innovative solution to support vocational language teaching at secondary schools in the motor vehicle repair, service and retail sector. This support is vocationally-orientated in language learning (EN, DE, FR), through the transfer of existing innovative teaching methodologies used in Slovakia, the UK and in Finland and their adaptation for the specific needs of the VET system in Czech repulic. The project aims include helping to improve the language skills of graduates abroad or in sevices with foreign clients. The main outputs of the project are textbooks for teachers and students accompanied by a prepared e-learning training course and multilingual technical dictionary. Summary: Project rationale: The project addresses the lack of innovative approaches and inaccessibility of teaching materials for the vocational language learning sector in Czech VET system, in the specific field of motor vehicle repair, service and retail related professions. Objectives of the project: The project aims to improve the foreign language communication skills of graduate students from vocational schools enterning the labour market. It also aims increase students' employability in the domestic and European labour markets. Impact of the project and what the project wants to achieve: Graduate students from vocational schools should find better employment prospects when applying for jobs abroad or in sevices with foreign clients. Project outcomes: localized e-learning vocational foreign language course uploaded into interactive Learning Management System/LMS localized Vocational language teachers textbooks in English, German and French localized Vocational language Students exercise books in English, German and French localized Technical Illustrated Dictionary Description: Project ALT reacts to the concrete need in the VET system in Czech Republic for innovative teaching and learning materials for vocational foreign language teaching in the professions of motor vehicle repair, service and retail. The project is implemented through the transfer of existing innovative teaching methodologies used in Slovakia, in the UK and in Finland and their adaptation for the specific needs of the VET system in the country. The main project aim is to improve communication skills in a foreign language for graduate student of vocational schools enterning the labour market, and increase students' employability in the domestic and European labour markets. The project also supports cooperation between the partners and other institutions providing learning opportunities through the effective transfer of the expertise required to achieve the project s aims and objectives. The cooperation between the partners is very important. The UK partner cooperates on further development of the interactive exercises and interactive vocational 2

3 Project Information dictionary. The Finnish partner serves as consultant in new VET education methods throughout the project. CfME SK cooperates on further development of the elearning system and VET language materials and elearning. CfME SK as project coordinator also supports the localization process. The Romanian partner supports the dissemination and innovation transfer to Romania and learns from the consortium the skills and knowledge required for the future transfer of outputs into Romania. The work program relates to the vision and objectives of the project. The first work package Project management follows cycle/needs analysis, solution development, design intervention, activities implementation, progress monitoring and evaluation. We put our emphasis on developing and implementing effective work processes to fulfil project goals and achieve project results. The aims of the project are achieved through the transfer of innovative teaching materials via an on-line LMS platform which includes interactive e-learning modules and related textbook, exercise book, illustrateddictionary and vocational learning screens. The project will also support an increase in the volume of cooperation between various institutions providing learning opportunities (partnership network of VET schools, SMEs) and in this way ensure effective transfer of already existing skills and expertise in order to reach project goals. The following objectives have been set to achieve the project goals: to provide teachers and students of VET schools in CZ with easy to handle, modern tools for effective and interactive content orientated language learning through the use of a LMS platform which uses e-learning modules to enable individual, individualized and differentiated teaching and learning, with the minimum of 3300 interactive exercises in vocational English, German and French. to provide step by step instruction in the methodology used in the Learning Management System with the aim of enabling teachers to use the system to its full potential for effective vocational foreign language teaching. to provide teachers in Czech Republic with a didactic tool and new vocational language teaching materials including a teachers textbook in English, German and French related to the professions of motor vehicle repair, service and retail to provide students with tools for practical learning and language skills development and students exercise books and illustrated dictionary related to professions of motor vehicle repair, service and retail, in English, German and French. Teachers and students of approximately 90 other vocational technical schools from CZ not taking part in the project, secondary technical schools, employment offices providing re - qualification courses, training institutions, language teaching institutions, car producing large enterprises, management and employees of SMEs targeted at Car repair, Service and Retail, vocational public/experts, social partners/employees institutions in CZ and abroad, approximately potential beneficiaries.
